    M35a2 automatic transmission swap?

The 2 thing I can add to that line of discussion (because I otherwise agree) is that the MT643 includes the torque lockups in 3rd&4th that the 1545 did (and the 545 does not). That aids in braking. And the 545 is right at the very peak of it's curve in terms of torque/hp. The MT643 came out...

    M35a2 automatic transmission swap?

I'm "watching" this thread for sure. From what I've heard, you're going to have to trim down the ears on the housing on the MT643 a bit to clear the frame rails. But it should just bolt right up - it's the same 6 bolt pattern as the AT(1)545 from what Jason at Darpco in Charlotte told me...

I bought the 3/4" impact too. Love it. Or, rather, more like RESPECT it. It will tear stuff up faster than just about any other tool I own if not used very carefully. After using it, I am not sure what I could find myself working on that called for the 1" monster. Yikes.

What have you done WITH your FMTV ( trips, Rescues etc) NOT: fixes, updates etc

Agreed. But then, you have to also factor that some folks too quickly jump to the "what's going to happen to me" part of the equation. As you said in so many words, own it, deal with it in whatever way is best, and move on. The side of the road is one of the most dangerous places the vast...

I hate to say it but I took out the sidewall on one of mine the other day too. Luckily I had the spare mounted and ready to go. But that now leaves me needing to find new rubber. I know ag tires aren't to a lot of folks liking, but they are tough and they can carry a load. Mine sees so...

    Unimog Tires 20" rims. 12.5 r20

At the point of running these kinds of tires, you've basically accepted you're going to have some amount of rub. Where you might run into significant issues is with caliper clearance. Speedwobble apparently shimmed his out. I don't know, but if you mod the wheel itself, you might be able to...

Speedwobble, What are those orange wheels? I like. I need to get new tires and I really like your setup. SJ/JD

    Jeepsinker's M35A2 6BT Cummins swap ( pics and videos)

That self-etching primer is surprisingly good. Clean the metal it, give it the time it it needs to cure, and it's on there for life.

I'm guessing some kinda 12/24vdc bulbs? If you come across good, low wattage (~1w), 110vac, red led bulbs that fit conventional lightbulb sockets, please let me know.

Not meaning to argue with Dave, just sharing what happened with mine, because it was the same as you're describing on yours: the handle was fully seated on that plastic catch/saddle and the engine didn't turn off. I pulled the engine cover and found that the cable was bending in a way that...

Yes, that exactly. Stalling it by putting it in "16th gear" and dumping he clutch is an option in a pinch, but that lever should normally be utilized. I wound up needing to manually exercise my throttle cable went I first got my SEE. Put a good bit of aerokroil down the cable jacket. It...
