Nice having a vehicle where you just don't have to worry about little dings.
I must admit, I follow davidb56's posts with interest because I've been stuck in urban **** for so many years and he lives in such a remote area.
It's pretty obvious that he enjoys a greater degree of freedom than some of us.

I moved up here in 2011. I retired from a Oakland Ca company and also Stockton ca, but lived in the foothills for 20 years and commuted. So I know the difference between freedom and control. I loved Ca when it was "Reagan country".Some examples are.. No building "permits outside of town, which saved me 20K compared to Ca, low vehicle registration costs without late penalties, No MC helmet law, No fireplace restrictions, open and conceal carry without "permit", which is why are crime is so low...granny's packing, so dont try to grab her purse...hahahaha

Oh wow, for some reason I thought you'd spent most of your life in Idaho. You haven't been there all that long. Sounds like you're happy there.
The mountains and the trees must be incredible. I'll bet nobody blinks twice at your deuce.

You aren't a REAL MV owner unless you run your M35A2 on 109 octane racing fuel!

hahaha actually I FINALLY started my project to clean out my nasty algae growth diesel fuel. I used my safety siphon to drain the tank.

I have the truck tank drained into the 55gal drum. Now I have to clean the truck tank (as best as I can), add fresh fuel, add some bio-cide, and stock up on fuel filters....

Any ideas on what I can do with 40gal of old algae growth diesel? Can I filter out the algae and re-use it? (does algae and filtering work that way??). Can I shock it (for lack of a better term) to kill the algae and re-use?

Is it even worth re-using the old diesel? I don't want to drain/clean my tank again in the future if I can avoid it....

Dave, I thought about retiring to Idaho several years ago, the countryside is beautiful. A friend of mine lives in Fruitland, ID. Alex Gordon he runs Idaho Motor Pool. Good place for 2 1/2 and 5 Ton parts.

Filter it and give it to someone who uses heating oil for winter heat. Don't go through all the effort to clean your fuel system and then risk putting that stuff back into your fuel tank.

10-4 Ajax, that is nasty stuff. Should be good for heating oil.

So your the one from Kalifornia ! LOL just kidding David. It's good to have people of "Right" thinking up here in the Pacific Northwest. I remember when all those Californians came up here in-mass in the late 1970's. The place hasn't been the same since. It's nice to know that not all ex-Californians are crazy liberals ! You know the type. So "open minded" that their brains have fallen out !

Today I did some fuel tank cleaning, added 10 gallons of fresh diesel mixed with algecide (power service brand biokleen and diesel clean). I also added it to the 55gal drum of old fuel. I clicked on the accesory switch to move the fuel through the system for a bit.

I was going to run the motor to really push around the biocide but after completing my pre checks I hit start (with the stop switch engaged) and I heard "click"....ugh

I think it's batteries (i keep them on a trickle charger) but it looks like they need some water added. However I think it'll be a good idea to pull the injectors just to make sure it isn't hydrolocked.

Today I did a little troubleshooting with my trucks issues. I checked both batteries with a multimeter and they showed good voltage...while at rest with no load. As soon as I introduced and kind of load, the voltage tanked....so one or both batteries is dead.

I pulled both batteries and ran to O'Reillys for a battery test and a price quote for new 6TLs. It turns out only one is dead. The other is good to go.
I came home and stuck the good one in a battery tender. I'm going to order a new 6tl later this week if I can't find one from a different place/lower price. O'Reileys and NAPA are similar in price at $199-$202.

Got my truck back from having air lockers installed. While it was there I had them mount a second fuel tank on the driver's side. The lip from the tool box had to be cut flush with the box, and the step into the cab had to be trimmed back as well. This is an 81 gallon tank.
20191125_134536.jpg20191208_131215.jpg

Also had an air dryer & alcohol evaporator mounted.

None of the above are hooked up however, pending some other work that I need to attend to.

And I finished the roll-up door for the hatch I had cut in the back wall. I have some 12" sliders to install for the seat to allow me access to this opening.

My cab was modified earlier this year, that's why the roof is so much higher.

Hey Monty. Love the cab ! Need some pictures from the outside though. Wished you had this done when I was last up there.

Turned my W/OW into a W/W on Friday. Cosmetically for now until I get the PTO installed and read up on what kind of hole I have to punch in the floor pan for the control lever.

Also deleted my intake flame heater after finding a large amount of fuel in my crankcase.

Until I get a hold of an air shift transfer case, she's sidelined in the driveway. Without 6x6, I'm basically driving it to China with how wet the ground is in the woods these days.20191202_170711.jpg20191206_130320.jpg20191206_163737.jpg

Fired up my deuce today. Had to charge up each battery for about an hour a piece. Not bad considering its 25 out and it's been sitting for 3 months. After 2 minutes of crank and wait it fired right up.

"Santa claus" present delivery to a local school tomorrow. Pics to follow in the uses for deuces thread.

Changed fuel filters , was lacking power . Found intank pump running but not pumping . Removed and found screen , and pump shims fell off , reassembled installed two pop rivets to hold it together and working fine again . Funny thing this must not have been the first time this happened there were parts from another pump in there , I Guess the other person didn’t want to stick there arm in the fuel to get it out

Patience paid off and I was able to bring home an Airshift transfer case yesterday evening.

I'm pulling the cab and floor of the truck as we speak so I can hopefully have this swap done by tomorrow night if all goes well.
