If you can, go with the brass upgraded unit... its a one and done fix!

If you are talking about the connection to the plastic fuel tank, that is in fact a wellnut with a washer on the outside for the fitting to push against.

I am in the same boat, everything I read said I had to order a well nut, but the one I was sent is way to big for the bottom drain. Plus I cant seem to find the petcock either. I need both the well nut/grommet and petcock. Thanks.

One of the members here, Daybreak, has a thread call "the infamous wellnut", or something like that. Look for it, or PM Daybreak. There is something better then a well nut. Read the thread, get the right fix.
