True, but ventilated seats are pretty common. Only time I road in some was a Ford King Ranch Edition p/u, but they were nice.
several versions of forced air fan booty/back cooling seat cushions on flea bay and amazon are available. thought about it myself.. still might

doing the cool suit thing in mine in lue of AC. Mostly thinking of a cool poncho...... it draps over you as you pull the seat belt across. removes for winter..... if heater was not so good Id run warm water thru the same poncho

I was hoping for a junkyard pull or EBay find for seats. Lower budget.

My understanding is that a lot of the cooled seats have CANbus in them and you need to know what signals to send them so they will actually do something. That is why I was asking if anyone has figured it out. Anyone?

There are essentially 4 types of cooled seats:
1. Fan cooled- so so cooling
2. Peltier junction- better
3. Circulated H2O- ok, but not practical and humidity can be an issue
4. Condenser cooled-great, but expensive

You have to remove the base completely for it to fit. Lumbar support is on par with typical high quality seats. You can certainly get more from a racing style seat. New plate to match up holes to frame would be needed. Plasma CNC. Mine seats are actually undergoing a redesign at the base to give more flexibility. I did not like my first iteration.

If you're on FB there is a group that has a number of posts regarding seats and custom installations:

"LMTV MTV Military Trucks" and search for "seats"

Does anyone know what each of these seats are from? I am trying to get options. I like the idea of armrests, but would rather have lumbar and comfort over armrests. I tend to be the one that drives 10 hours non stop. Once did 20 hours.

20 hours. That sucks. I bought a gel seat cushion from Costco for $15 and it makes a big difference. It could be a temporary fix until you find a seat you like.

Any pictures of your install? I am having trouble finding seats. My wife liked your seats. I doubt I will find it in the budget, but would enjoy drooling over them.

Honda Civic SI seats from a junkyard. Custom brackets from right angle steel and unistrut. Totally comfortable on and off-road.

I really like those seats. What year are they?

Do you mind saying what they cost? I found a bunch of old cheap ones and expensive new ones. Just trying to guess how hard I will need to search to find cheap newer ones.

I've been looking at newer MiniVan seats like the Sienna and Odyssey that are leather with heat and cooling, ie blowing air around the hind quarters They have the arm rests on both sides that fold up and down but I am not sure if they would be too wide. From the height standpoint they seem to look about right.. There are several different wrecking yards that have them priced reasonably.... These seem like a good option...?.. Just have to get them pulled with the harness and switches.

You can calculate just how wide a seat will fit with a tape (I forget the number). The specs for most seats can be found with some digging.

Height really depends on your leg length. The OEM seats are pretty low profile to allow for short drivers and you will notice that the highest point of the base is *well* below the transmission hump (several inches). When you look at a lot of installs, you will notice a lot of them are *higher* than the hump, And that's fine if you have the leg to reach the pedals and you are the only one to ever drive the truck.

Also keep in mind that the OEM wheel is at 22"(?) with very limited tilt. So at some point you may end up with the wheel resting on your legs the higher the seat (you can of course run a smaller steering wheel, but at the cost of leverage).

Lastly, and it's more of a personal thing, are the hip bolsters in some seats. While these are great at holding you in the seat when you are bouncing around off-road, they can be annoying to climb over for some people. In sports cars that you slip down into they are a great fit. But in a cab that you already have to climb up into on a regular basis they are an added obstacle to navigate and lift yourself in and out of the higher the bolster

Bottom line, LMTV seat solutions are like office chairs. Go into Office Depot some time and try to find the most comfortable chair. Rarely will two individuals pick the same chair though.

Quickly scanned this thread and I don't think Eric's blog made it on here. Did you see this:

Apologies if some of these (below) were posted in this thread but here are my crude seat notes when I was shopping. Ultimately, I went with Scheelmann but they are spendy. I wish I could tell you they were worth it but I only installed one to make sure it fit, haven't drove it anywhere with the seats. I bought the seat mounts from Scheelmann which I thought were overpriced but it turns out they weren't and made install a breeze. One could make seat adapters easily enough, they just might not look as nice.

Apologies for delay i response. The seats were already removed from the donor car, were selected out of the junkyard warehouse so I don't know what year they are. Based on condition, maybe 10 years at most. Only indication is "SI" embroidered on the seat back. I think $100-150/seat but in excellent condition. No electrics on the seat though, which is very important. I did cut the plug for the side air bag that is part of the seat, and had to trim a piece of plastic ear the hinge where it hit the door frame on the cab.

I spent about an hour just looking at and measuring seats to find the right ones.

Good luck!
