Something to think about so many pounds this and so many pounds that: the winch is not tasked with lifting the truck vertically against gravity.

You have seen strongman exhibitions of a man pulling an xx,xxx pound semi with a rope. Ask him to lift the same truck then see a different outcome.

This is where you guys show me fancy geometry, coefficient of static friction, inclined planes n' stuff like that.

Lifting it vertically would actually be easier than pulling it out of deep mud.

If you have enough rope and blocks you can lift it straight up. And good strong attachment point

Any pictures of hitch receivers fab'ed on the front with or without winches installed?
Trying to get an idea of what it would look like.
I like the idea of being able to use the same winch for the front or rear.

I decided to put a receiver on the front and back for an electric winch. Then I got the idea that I could also put side mounts on the airlift spreader bars. I have not designed the side mounts yet but that lead me to the conclusion that rather than hard wire all the locations, I made a welding cable extension cord that reaches from the battery box to all locations.
The front receiver also allows for bike or utility carriers.
Good to do the research. The best designs usually show up about the time you finish your own.

What size cable did you go with? I assume you're using the 24V Stallion?
If I'm reading specs correctly 210amp is the max draw on it.

It is amazing to me how many people just look at the load rating of a winch and never once open the manual and look at things like duty cycle, layers etc.
Lifting straight up is fighting gravity which is MUCH more difficult than pulling. Dynamic weight loading needs to be considered too. If it is swinging, stop winching and let it settle down or you can easily exceed your rated capacity.

"dynamic-load. Noun. (plural dynamic loads) Any load which is nonstatic, such as a wind load or moving live load."

Time your duty cycle. Also, look at power cable run. If it is more than 3-4 feet with, you better use the Southwire voltage drop calculator. Excessive voltage drop will cause the motor to develop excessive heat. Excessive heat will cause damage the motor and the grease to lose its lubricant properties which damages the gears. If you overheat the winch and it recovers, you should change the grease.

I am working on a Harbor Freight 18k winch install with 60 k snatch block. I will let you know if is a good winch or a POS. Price was right.

And when you have two of these with blocks so heavy you need crane to get them out and put away. What can I say lol I can say it badass.

I use a sherpa stallion 24v 25klb winch, and I dont plan on needing it frequently, really for emergency use only. For my mounting I cut and welded the mount to the front bumper, then used my ½" plate with ¾" bolts through the frame tube just in front of the radiator. I didnt want to weld to that tube so I could take the whole thing off with the bumper, but wanted the pull force to go right into the frame. My truck is in the interior shop now but ill snap some more pictures of the inside and underside of the mount.
