Glow plugs for MEP-002a/MEP-003a

Does anyone have a modern cross reference for the old CH42 glow plugs?

Mine are no longer functioning and being in the northeast they are somewhat important during the winter, especially as we rely on our MEP-002a genset for daily use!

Most threads on the forums here are pretty old and I haven't been able to find a cross reference at a local dealer (Napa, AutoZone, Advance Auto) to any of the numbers listed - even the replacements. Green Mountain Generators also lists them as backordered.

Appreciate any info finding a modern replacement for these!

Edit: I see Zed254 already provided a link to these: Try eBay using: "GLOW PLUG, CHAMPION 182 CH42, MILITARY GENSET MEP002, MEP003".

By the way, you indicated they are not functioning. Have you pulled them and inspected them and verified its actually the glow plugs themselves. Also, are the glow plugs (CH49) in the intake manifold working properly?

TIP: Use Copper Anti-seize whenever reinstalling them.

I recently purchased 12 NOS Champion glow plugs on Ebay for $10.00 each. I've seen other adverts on Ebay for the glow plugs at other times. I know Champion discontinued them in the past, but I don't know the current situation. That being said, I have never had to replace any glow plugs in my MEP003A which I picked up in August 2009, and the generator is used frequently. As received, the glow plugs all tested good. When I first received the genset, I removed each glow plug and re-installed with copper anti-seize to facilitate potential replacement in the future. Ten years with no glow plug failures is excellent service in my mind.

Guys, FYI I just purchased some extra Champion 182 ( CH-42 ) glow plugs as well as some of the real Onan equivalent 2920-00-106-1817 kit ( which includes the copper washer ) , same kit Green Mountain is selling and I also have some of the Onan 0110-0546 copper washers available separately.
If anyone has interest in any of them, please shoot me a PM.
I'd like to provide them to the SS members here first rather than selling the excess to general public.
I will post some in the classifieds once I upgrade my membership here.

As a side note I suppose I should mention that I sold out of the Champion ones I had mentioned above. I still have the original Onan glow plug kits, but they are much more expensive than the deal OldPhart has found.
I'm tempted to buy more of the Champion's myself!

I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying. Where would the other installation position be if they aren't installed in the air intake?

Nevermind, I found it in the cylinder head drawing.
