My tip for spare relays

There are 4 different relays used in the A0 PDP. You have a 4 and 5 pin and 12 or 24 volt coils. I decided to keep it simple and use the 5 pin relays. The 5 pin will work as a 4 pin with no issue. All you need is a 12 volt and 24 volt coil relay. You only need 2 to keep as spares. I chose Bosch brand because they are 1) NOT made in China, 2) seem to be a good quality and 3) the 12 volt coil is gray and the 24 coil is black. I also wanted to get one that had a diode across the coil like the ones that came factory.

Yep, 5 pin for all... why they specced 4 and 5 pin relays without making their sockets non interchangeable was stupid... like the different color cases. add some drops of grey and black paint on the PDP under where each relay plugs in, and you have almost made it idiot proof.

Great idea with the color code to minimize errors. Where did you source those BOSCH relays? I found the BOSCH 12v but not the 24v based on the part numbers in your photos. Also, there are different amp rated relays in our PDPs so how do you plan to deal with that when you only carry two spares?

I got the 5 packs from Amazon & they worked great. $15 for 5. Got a bunch of extras now!

They also had the caps that go on the caging holes for the brakes.

Does anyone have an opinion on the PIKER vs BOSCH branded relays. They are roughly the same price, both companies are ISO 9000 and there products are all CE conforming.

If you mean Picker relays... the ones I have seen have been made in China and they only come in one color. They will work but I gave the reasons I picked Bosch. Not made in China and 2 colors.

I am keeping 2 type of spare relays insted of 4... Fuses are another story.

Thanks for the spelling correction, you are correct, PICKER components. They are based in Minnesota and produced in Asia specifically, contacts in Japan and final assembly in China. Not everything made in Asia is Harbor Freight quality. It depends on the specification and QC by the OEM. I agree with you on the BOSCH color code and they are made in Portugal which is in the EU so that is a statement of quality because of the CE , TÜV, and ISO 9000 requirements.

Thank you. I did not find the 24v SPDT on Amazon. Perhaps I overlooked it.

Those from Amazon will work but they do not have a diode across the coil like what came factory. Without it there will be a voltage spike in the system when the power is removed from the coil. Another reason I wanted the Bosch .

I think people just replace those with fuses. I did anyway. I was troubleshooting something electrical, I can't remember what, it seemed like the breakers were popping when they shouldn't have. Out of frustration, I just replaced them all with fuses.

Yea, standard automotive blade fuses will fit where the circuit breakers are located...
