Is trying to fix this card worth messing with?

It could be the PO just shorted out something to cause the unknown resistor to blow. Can someone tell me what the resistor is so that I could test the board? I do plan on having a manual momentary GP relay switch in the truck. I would also like to know what usually dies on these cards. The controller chip? Regulator? This is my first CUCV. Plus I need to get my post count up so I can communicate Lol.

The card is burnt all the way into the board. A new updated card would be a better way to go in my opinion. Get one from member antennaclimber on this site.

i had the same problem. i just changed DIODE only and then it works perfect till now. Try to change diode ! i did use 1N4007 which is not the same as original one but it works. pattern in your picture looks burnt. if it is you have to connect them manually

Yes, it is a diode and the cathode band is still visible in the charred example. This connects the transistor emitter to the solenoid so when the glow plug action is commanded, the transistor grounds out the solenoid, the other coil connection is 12 V+. The diode protects the emitter from back EMF because when the solenoid is switched off, a strong positive voltage is generated by the coil as the magnetic field collapses.
