California did harvest oil a century ago. It wasn't pretty and certainty not worth it.

Hey blood of tyrants. I Have either a m1008 or m1009 with the 6.2 Litre Diesel, would it be safe to run the mix of Used Oil and Diesel?

I have a question, are all M35A2's muti-fuel?

Staffsargent - Nope! Mines a 1953 Reo with a Continental OA-331 Gasser Motor. It's an M35 (though some have called it an M35A2) Not sure if there's too much of a difference. My brothers M35A2 is a multifuel and other than the engine and trans, its the same truck.

M35A2's are all multifuel. M35, and M35A1's I cannot comment on, but the A2's are Multifuel.

Sunday PM: 3.95 gallon
Monday 10AM: 3.99 gallon
Monday 6PM: 4.09 gallon

$4.29 in Colfax, Wa. Haven't seen anyone with diesel for under $4 around here.

Actually, it is worse than that. Many parts of the country (particularly the Northeast and Midwest) commonly use Home Heating Oil (HHO) for a fuel source for home and building heating. HHO is essentially the same as the good old low sulfur No 2 diesel. Thus during the fall, winter and spring there two sources competing for #2 diesel, which also drives up the price.

Diesel hit $4.99 a gallon here today .

$4.60 today in Orrville Ohio

I started making/mixing my own fuel a few weeks ago.

60% waste oil
30% diesel fuel
10% unleaded gas

Mix and then filter to 1 micron. Then straight into the fuel tank!

So to make a total of 5gals, it would be 3gal of waste oil, 1.5gal of diesel fuel, and 0.5gal of gas. It costs me roughly $1.749/gal when done at TODAYS prices.

Wish diesel was only $4 gal now.

Diesel at the local loves fuel stop today 5.94.9 and reg gas 4.69.9 in Tn

14 years later and the thread is still appropriate and it's timely again.

And still sad.

Diesel 5.94 sunday and 6.08 today same place !

The thing is, the power grids are going to need a lot of restructuring. We are already instructed to try and to conserve energy as to not over load the power grids, yet, if A/C and other like forms of housing equipment we use to be comfortable makes that big of a difference, how much of a difference are electric cars gonna make when everyone will be charging them? We have a long....long way to go yet, lol.

Yes Sir! And the hard part is that the popular idea of nuclear power is evil will never let the utility companies improve their ability to generate more electricity. Lake Mead measured at 1043.82 feet (in elevation) Thursday (6/23/2022) morning. That is 185 feet below "full pond".

So, we aren't generating enough power with Water.

Coal is "dirty" even though the utility companies have spent BILLIONS of dollars on "stack scrubbers" to make their output cleaner.

Sad state of affairs...

Yup. I don't doubt the evilness of nuclear power though, those who don't understand it or know how it works are just scared of it and having a Chernobyl all over the country, when it really is a safe power alternative. When looking into solar, people are rediculous! A company wanting to sell me solar panels to save me $60-70 a month, no batteries, so just solar power for the day, quoted me $42,000! Seriously!? That much and I'm not even getting a battery bank to store power? Plus it's not even hooked in to feed into the grid so if I didn't use any power at all, the utility company would have to reimburse me for the added energy to the system. If the deal included a battery bank and I planned to live in this house the rest of my life, then sure, it will be a deal as in long term investment, but no, not when I can slowly invest in solar energy and make sure I have stored energy all while being cheaper as well.

I guess im going to have to buy a trailer load of mason jars and start canning fuel by the quart and put it in the cellar for hard times like grand ma use to do and in a few years sale a little off at 50 bucks a quart when all they have left is a diesel fired heater ! Like the movie Book of Eli .
