Anyone know where to purchase real CARC paint? Sherwin Williams is giving me the run around, and MilSpray told me they cannot sell CARC to civilians.

As far as I know, as a civilian you aren't allowed to buy it. I've seen a lot of people using rapco products as well as other that are colorwise the same, just not 'CARC'.

I only want real CARC, Rapco just doesn't look right to me. I know people have gotten it, just don't know where.

Certain paints are only allowed to be sold to companies with proper permits, filtered spray booths, etc. Depends on the VOC's and other ingredients of the product. Every year we have to sign agreements from paint suppliers stating that we are certified or permitted to use their product.

So glad the government is keeping us safe from paint, meanwhile giving fully armored humvees to the taliban
I just want to spray the stuff outdoors with a respirator, looking to buy the water based stuff. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Check out wcfr4 on epay, he has really good carc substitutes, I painted my x doors with his 383 paint and plan on painting a whole vehicle and touch up the rest of the humvee with it

I bought mine with no problems from Sherwin Williams industrial coating division. Specifically in OKC.

Yeah that's Gillespie paint, same stuff that Rapco sells. I've used it before and it's not bad paint. There is a reason one cannot legally by CARC paint over-the-counter: The vapors will kill you, or sicken you irreparably.

There are 5 different types of CARC and they have become much safer over the years. I'm going to be using low VOC type IV waterborn CARC which is much different than what was sprayed decades ago.
I already obtained and reviewed the MSDS sheet for type IV CARC. I'm spraying outdoors (not in a paint booth) and I have both a full NBC mask as well as a supplied air respirator if needed (but it wont be).
Please point me to the law that says this is illegal. I'll wait.

Methyl iso's have been used since the 1940s and are in many more things than CARC paint. Yes, remote clean air and vapor vents are recommended but only if the PPE doesn't have a filter change interval. 3M and other filter cartridge suppliers have filter change calculations for ISOcyanates. Cover your eyes, skin, and change yer filters. Everything will kill you. With that said, we can get every dangerous drug on the planet, either prescribed or in the wild, and risk life and limb for the greater good. The OP wasn't about safety. It was about not being able to find a supplier that would sell to a non business. Some answers were provided as to why. As with anything in life, if you look around long enough, chances are you find what you're after.

Yeah. My best friend talked that way. He had an auto interior and auto shoppe and talked that same way about paint. Now he has a radical prostatectomy and is on estrogen.
Did you ever hear the expression “wrong and strong”.
Paint and interior section has a whole thing about Behr paint. Behr paint is my go-to.
