This ambulance I picked up has the data plate as being a M43B1 issue 1964. Now from what I have been reading it should have the rubber type elecrical connectors, but it has the metal ones? Is this correct?

Hey Bill,

My 62 M43B1 has all metal connectors, I guess that doesn't answer your question on whats proper for your 64 but it might help for reference

I think warbirduk is teasing me with those nice photos of his M43 Someday this one will look like it too That sure is a pretty truck though!
Okay, now I'm really cornfused. The M37 I have is older, yet it has all rubber connectors. Yeesh. Maybe a call to Vintage Power Wagons?

Thanks Guys for your kind words!
It was last licenced for the road back in 1985! To be fair, it has got some rust just above the side gutter on the edge of the roof & also in the screen frame area but on the whole it's very good. Things that are missing that I need to get are the light at the front of the roof & I really need a siren!! So If anyone out there has them spare please let me know, also, if you want some more pictures, tell me.
Cheers.............

warbirduk,

Don't feel bad, every M43 I have seen including my own has that rust on the lip of the roof. I cut the bad metal out and welded new metal in How far are you from Brize Norton Air Base?

warbirduk,

Yup I was there about 1 1/2 years ago, I took a RAF flight to a little rock in the south Atlantic called Ascension Island. Its 35 sq. miles in size It belongs to the UK, theres a US & British base and thats it. They just opened it up to civilian travel. I went there in search of a world record Blue Marlin I'll be heading to Brize Norton in Nov. on my way back to Ascension, maybe we can tip a pint when I get there

I lucked out then with mine Not a spec of rust anywhere. Maybe it's the metallic green civvy paint that some hippie painted it. This one was last licensed in 1977!
