Building Battery / Alternator / Starter Cables for CUCV

Resurecting an old thread here, but I'm getting new cables made as I shorted the starter lead. Can I just use a regular eyelette on the starter end or does it need to be the funky end thats on there?

Some questions about winterizing my 1009 for a move to Alaska.

Other than my 12 year old 6tls going kaput. Standard issue block heater and a battery charger, winter cold front. I just ran regular diesel outta the pump. I would suggest a aux cab heater tho, the stock one barely made a dent.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

After preforming admirability on the 300 mile round trip to Eagle summit ysterday, starts up and fogs the inside of the windshield. Guess its time for a new heater core again.

Anyone had their IP rebuilt recently?

How long does Badger Diesel take to get the IP back to you? the oh9 is my daily driver as of the moment so I would need to have a relative fast turn around if it could happen for me.

    M1009 Cargo Management

In AZ as a surveyor we had "Silvershields" something similar to the truck vaults. Ours was in a regular pickup bed but I know the make 'em smaller to fit inside of SUVs like out blazers. They lasted through several trucks and took a beating for having gear thrown into them all the time. I...

    Heavy Duty Headlight wiring harness

How is the headlight logevity with the upgraded harness? I had the sylvania silver stars in the 1009. They were definatley brighter but only lasted a little over a year. Same thing in in my wifes car I put the brighter bulbs in, h4's, and they only lasted a year. Brighter yes, having to...

    24v battery trickle charger

I think the majority of my starting problems are connected to the fact my block heater plug falls out of the heater at the block. I don't norice it in the dark and them try to start in the morning at 40 below basically unassisted. I'm yhawing out rtv right now to get that sucker to stay pluged...

    24v battery trickle charger

I'm not discharging the batteries. It was recomended to me. In my specific environment (cold) that keeping the batteries on charge when I'm pluged in with block, oil pan, and other heaters was a beyter plan than using the little battery warmer pads.

    24v battery trickle charger

I saw that battery tender page as well, but now that I know doghead is against it (I kneal before his cucv electrical know how), I think I'll try to retun the unused, but damaged 24v charger and get two 12v ones. Since I have done the resistor bypass, I know for sure there is not the same...

    24v battery trickle charger

well, nuts. Anyone in need of a 24v charger then? slight damage to the insulation of the 120v plug.

    24v battery trickle charger

this is probally a dumb question, I recently aquired a 24v 2 amp charger on the advice of the battery shop I use, do I hook it up to both batteries at once, negative to the front battery and positive to the rear? its gonna have to wait anyways as the cord snapped while getting it out of the...

    Coldest starting temp.

Seeing as how my block heater came unplugged at the block, the old girl firedup yesterday at 35 below. Seemed like a 20 second glow cycle and a bag of wrenches in the drier on start up, but she did start.

    advice for rear window crank

Thanks, rich. I spent two years rolling the window down with a couple of philipino pilots (a pair of pliers). I was hoping to save the part of the crank that is still on there, but i guess cutting it off is the best option. I couldn't make myself bust the window out, with out having a...

    advice for rear window crank

I know there is lots of info on the rear window crank and pleanty of horror stories. Here is my dilema. The crank broke off, the window is up, how do I get the crank assembly removed. I haul my own water and have a 200 gallon transfer tank in the cargo area. The tank goes from the folded up...

CUCV Replacement Heater Cores - No or Low Heat Output Reason

Good tip, and something for me to check this weekend. I was already to just give up on heating my 1009. I am also asuming that the -30F temps around here are a major thing to overcome with such a large cabin space and such a tiny core.
