So if I understand correctly, if the tire moves both directions when off the ground in reverse for example, the sprag is not engaging? Could it be as simple as disconnecting the air line and cleaning the sprag unit out?
Hi, searched for posts to try and answer my problem but came up with nothing helpful, hopefully someone here can help me or point me to the proper post, I have a feeling my search terms weren't proper.
I've got an M818 tractor, no mods all stock, a couple months ago I got stuck in some muddy...
Thanks Red, this is pretty much what I was looking for. Speed isn't a huge concern for me, although I'd like to be able to cruise at 65 which is why I thought some bigger tires would be best. I live in Spokane, WA and drive the truck once a year to southern CA and back, other than that its a fun...
So I've been combing through threads and posts looking for some definitive mpg increases and haven't come up with anything concrete. Figured I would try starting a thread where we can really think tank some mods up to help increase the mileage on an 800 series truck with the Cummins 250. I've...
So adding a turbo and doing the fuel line split does nothing for mileage? I figured since the engine isn't working nearly as hard as it was without the turbo, it would increase fuel mileage a couple miles to the gallon, maybe hitting 8 or 9. Am I just not understanding how a turbo works then?
Did we ever get an mpg rating with the 16.00R20 tires and the turbo with fuel line split mods? I'm pretty curious, I'll be doing these same modifications so I suppose I'll find out, but it'd be nice to know what to potentially expect after mods are complete.
Just have to know the right people usually, any TV work I've done is because j k new somebody in the business who had need of my skill set or property.
I upgraded the horn to a deeper tone 4 chime horn, and removed the button and wiring entirely from the steering wheel already, I rigged up a pull cord that activates the horn now.
Security of the wheel while operating is what I was most worried about, its a mod I was thinking about doing for a...
Greetings, got a strange request. I am potentially renting my truck out to a TV show, and although I've done TV work before, I've never rented my property out. I know to get everything in writing, read the fine print, and to make sure I know exactly what I'm getting into, but what I don't know...
Yeah, I kinda figured it'd get deleted before too long, thought I'd throw it out there and hope for a decent reply before it gets taken down. I removed the horn button and wiring, got rid of the horn entirely and installed a pull-cord activated air horn with a deeper tone. I was thinking that...
Hey there, figured mods was where this question belonged. In a different thread I discussed taking my 818 and turning it into a wasteland post apocalypse beast. After seeing the new Mad Max movie I decided that my 818 needs a custom removable steering wheel. My question is whether or not this is...
Right on everyone, I'll be sticking with the turbo mod and just mock up a supercharger for the look I want. I love the idea of the propane tank "nos" idea, thanks!
Thanks for the input, I'll keep things updated and pics posted as work comes along on it. I'm a welder/fabricator for a living with access to some good gearheads, we'll see I'd I can't get it figured out.
Thanks, didn't even think about that. What about a fake supercharger. Honestly I just want the look of a working one, wouldn't have to actually do anything. Or maybe I could just do the supercharger instead of the turbo mod?
I've been reading a lot into the turbo upgrade for my 818, and it got me thinking about a super charger mod. Little back story for the truck, I'm turning it into a fun truck to bring out for wasteland weekend events, basically a bunch of mad max enthusiasts with crazy cars camping in the desert...
Will do! I'll be uploading pics a.s.a.p. By the way, how did you run the air lines to the seat? Just a tap into one of the air lines off the compressor?
I don't mind at all. I'm planning to buy the very same one off the I90 by the Broadway exit. Taking her for a test drive tomorrow to make sure she's tip top before handing over the cash. Thanks for the tip on the seat! I'll see what I can scrounge up at Spaulding's for OTR tractor seats after I...
