WOW ! 1954 ~ Present ! 62 years and the basic profile is virtually unchanged. Even the Ford Mustang has gotten numerous reshapings in it's much younger 52-ish years. Quite a record. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that info. The bird that picked me up at the small airfield at Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland was definitely jet powered though. When I got onboard the only vacant seat was the forward facing one by the door. My knee was rubbing the short stowed boarding ladder for the short flight...

I just read the WIKI about the S-3 Viking. I am CONFUSED. In the late 70's I did one carrier landing aboard a similar aircraft that had the same apparent external configuration but was internally configured for TWO Cockpit Crew + 5 Passengers (four facing aft - for less traumatic carrier...

Gotta LUV all the variants of the C-130. WHAT-A-PLATFORM for so many missions. I think the USCG paint scheme is my favorite of all the pattern's she's worn.

A keen analysis of the significance of this photo. Sad that only in their decommissioning did so many make muster. Carry on.

I'm a bit confused trying to decode your date notations. Are you saying the pic is circa 1959 or are these aircraft still on-site as of the April 2, 2015 date?? Or is 4/2/15 simply the posting date? Some things are lost to brevity. Thanks for any clarification. Carry on.

That's A LOTT of horsepower putting that bird aloft. Good job ! to those who reincarnated her from her sleep. May those who fly upon those wings be kept safe and always blessed in the performance and accomplishment of their missions. AMEN.

I envied those who got to ride next to those BIG Floor-To-Ceiling PICTURE WINDOWS in the forward cabin of those CG birds. Something tells me that I'd instinctively cinch up the ol' seat belt just a bit tighter to compensate for the "fear of flying" out of the plane. :jumpin:

Have they pickled any of the Air Force's T-1A Jayhawks yet? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raytheon_T-1_Jayhawk I'm curious, because from 1979-1986 I was in Avionics and Electrical Engineering with Mitsubishi Aircraft International here in San Angelo, TX. Some of my original design work on that...
