Redstone went smooth and uneventful for me. They do not want anyone screwing around with a truck, filling fluids and such within the yard (I can see their point). They will jump start you if needed, then you just get your stuff out of the yard gate where you can check things, air up, whatever...
The newer stuff (CJ-4) still has zinc in it, just less. I don't know about the other antiwear additives like phosphous. TBN numbers are less, but with no sulpher in the new fuel it doesn't seem to matter much. If you want the older spec (CI-4), just run Wal Mart SuperTech 15w40 Universal...
Got me a semivan trailer (thanks to Captain & Woody):
This is an M129A2C and I really need to figure out the year made:
a. Serial Number Reads Exactly-> US ARMY NX02BQ S/N 87
b. Registration Number ----------> (None Visible)

OK, you said it was locked up even after you pulled it off? Then it freed itself right? Just makin sure I understand you. There is something seriously worn out in there. As far as the bolt goes, I would just use a BIGGER wrench and get some muscle on it. Thats what I did (I used an...
Hey, I thought these things were GI proof. ;-) Some clutch slipping is necessary when driving off road, especially with the low output of the multifuel (these don't have the 1200+ lb ft of torque at idle that a modern class 8 has). Unless of course you are talking about always dropping down...
Anybody know why they have a company policy of not selling any parts to US civilians? Quoted from their (AMGeneral) website:
"Can the public purchase parts for Humvees or other military vehicles manufactured by AM General?
No, these parts, as well as service information, are available only...
That big sliding gear is first gear. The rod sticking out the end is for the sprag. If your truck has an air shift transfer, it wont be connected to anything.
The correct TM for top cover disassembly is: TM9-2520-246-34-1 (pg. 2-36)
Basically, you undo the wire ties so you can unscrew the...
