    Flasher Unit Bad ?

The standardization of parts among all military vehicles was a result of lessons learned in WWII. The first M series vehicles such as the M35, M37 and M38 were in my opinion stop gap trials. All wiring the same, lights and switches along with alternators, distributors as much as possible, fuel...

    Flasher Unit Bad ?

I look at it the same as the push button light switch replacing the tried and true 3 lever switch. If you can’t make a large amount of money on it invent something that you can make a large amount of money on and get it on the appropriation list. Then make even more money when it has to be...

Operation: "More Cowbell"; my M1114 thread

Awesome! Enjoy. They should play ok. My M715 has been very tolerant and cooperative with all of the other vehicles that came after it.

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

Darn, easy diagnosis is gone. How old is the fuel in the tank?

Pull the check valve in the return line on the top of the injection pump. Look inside and see if there are little black bits in there.

    Another alternator question

Here is a video with the same information Tow4 posted above: Tow4 is also a great source for alternator rebuild kits.

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

The die when you let off the throttle but start right back up again thing. I have experience with several trucks where the only cure was an injection pump rebuild. 100% success fixing the problem. I also have about 50% success with new fuel, filter and just run the truck on the road at least...

    Flasher Unit Bad ?

They are easy to test if you have a 12 volt or 24 volt power supply and a test light or volt meter. Here is a video showing how to test the flasher:

    Another problem with M135??

Trouble with our trucks and finding answers is why we all come to this site. The spark at the points is what causes the coil to “collapse” and send hi voltage to the distributor cap and plugs. Check your leads around the points and what could be touching the points. Something is causing the...

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

Yes, I am the Tim in the video. Delphi HFP906 is the only mechanical pump I know currently sold new that works and can deal with the biodiesel.

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

Exactly. I normally count to 20 while cranking, let it sit for a few minutes and repeat. Here is a video about the entire process:

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

If you are getting greasy white smoke then you have fuel but not enough heat to create fire. Basically anything below 156° inside the cylinder is too cold for a diesel.

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

It normally takes around 60-120 seconds of cranking to get air out of the injection pump.

Clogged sock, cracked hose, no fuel in tank or bad fuel pump.

Need Help Diagnosing Fuel Delivery Issue

The fast idle and cold start advance both have a green wire connecting to them. The pink wire as pointed out above is what turns the fuel on or off. My post in #24 is just following normal fuel filter bleeding procedures. If the engine is cranked with the pink wire connected and powered while...

What to do while I'm at it...

Heath diesel 22 inch fan. It could be a Duramax fan, but I have never compared them. Heath Diesel severe duty fan clutch. I drove 487 miles yesterday. Late afternoon above 90°. Never spiked higher than 203° coolant temp while climbing some long steep grades on I-10 west of Kerrville.

It might be too late. But, pull your pink wire when checking the lift pump flow with the fuel filter open.

Have you removed the check valve for the return line on the IP to see if it has a bunch of little black pebbles from a disintegrating IP? Near the end of this video is what I am referring to:

What to do while I'm at it...

The rule of thumb used to be that above 35-40 mph air from the airstream flow would keep an engine cool. It still might be true for a non turbo 6.2. However the original poster has a truck with an add on turbo, air conditioning and a transmission cooler. All of those things add heat to the...
