    Blown head gasket..help

Corné, you are in big trouble if you expect to get your truck running again by next weekend! I don't know how the parts situation is in the Netherlands, you can probably order head gasket kits from the US at Saturn Surplus http://www.saturnsurplus.com/ or Memphis Equipment...

    Fuel Pump

If you hunt through the Saturn listings they do have an external 24V fuel pump for $36.50. http://www.saturnsurplus.com/miscpage/miscpage.htm I wish the search function would work for the Saturn site, every time I try to use it (even though I hit the "Search saturnsurplus.com button) it does a...

Ken - Thanks for the clarification. As I undertand you, pre '70 was Kaiser-Jeep, '70 could be marked either Kaiser-Jeep OR General Products Jeep Corp and post '70 are AM General. My data plate is stamped, not etched, and did not have a year stamped on it originally, but it does now and I have...

Sorry Eric. I knew that, for some reason I've been calling you Dave all through this post and the Soft top Deuce post. Must have messed up too many brain cells sniffing too much Deuce exhaust! Gotta switch to Biodiesel! Can you post a pic of one of the data plates? I've never seen one as you...

    blinker not blinking.

I still had an intermittant problem with my flashers not working, sometimes they'd work, sometimes they wouldn't, then after driving a few miles they'd magically start working again, so I rechecked the grounds. Looked at the flasher module on the fender again - yup, ground lead there, double...

    Dave - Your signature line reads: "70 AMG M35A2 w/w turbo soft-top 71 AMG M35A2 non-tubo hard-top" Odd, I have a '70 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2; I thought AM General didn't buy out Kaiser-Jeep until 1971. Also, a '72 Deuce WITHOUT a turbo; I thought all -A1s and later had turbo'd LDT-465's. What do...

WTS - Budd Wheel combo sockets, Cheaper Yet!

Sockets are still available, I've bought so many that the store owner gave me a quantity discount so you can now get them for $19.00 delivered, not the $19.05 I originally quoted. Does anyone know what other vehicles use the 1-1/2" hex - 13/16" square nuts & studs? 5 ton trucks maybe? (edited...

Dave - Here is another thread with some discussion on the TMC Wolverhampton transmission. Gerhard (gringeltaube) seems to have some inside info on that particular trans, although it might just be a standard Spicer 3053A with the wrong date plates. Take a good look at the pics, the TMC and Spicer...

Another nice looking truck! The number 1 cause of any electrical problems on a Deuce is a poor ground, as evidenced by the thump you gave the oil guage to get it working. The oil pressure guage is electrical, it draws +24V from the spider harness on the back side of the dash panel, the oil...

M756 Pipeline Bed install /redneck engineering

Ken - what are you doing up at 1:00 am posting on the board? Don't you have a life? Or is this your life? BTW, what did you think of the Budd Wheel socket I sent you?

bigmike - If you haven't already done so, subscribe to the Military Vehicles mailing list, http://www.mil-veh.org/, and post your request there also. Another spot to try is the message boards at G503.com, http://www.g503.com/. The more places you post your request, the better your chances of...

Split master cylinder brake set up?

Seems to me the GM Medium Duty Truck master cylinder Marcus mentioned would be a simpler and cheaper solution, although I'm sure you'd need to fab up a mounting adapter and push rod. Anyone have any info on the M/C? Marcus, are you still watching this post, any comments?

    Radiator and alternator

RE your alternator: 1. Find a shop in your area and have your alternator rebuilt. If you can't find a specialty rebuild shop, most auto parts stores can send them out for rebuild. 2. Check Ebay. Search for "military truck", "generator" and "alternator". There are several, I saw a BRAND NEW one...

    How Tall ?

Eric - 105" for me. The stack removes in about two minutes using a pair of 1/2" wrenches. Pop off the soft top and you're down to about 93" to the top of the windshield frame. Good luck with your two new Deuces, you lucky dog. Next you'll probably want a M108 wrecker, just in case one breaks...

Split master cylinder brake set up?

Interesting - The diagram shows ONE dual system master cylinder and TWO air-hydraulic booster units! Guess I need to read up more on Deuce brake systems. In most cars/light trucks with vacuum or hydraulic boosters (which is what I am most familiar with), the booster acts on the master cylinder...

Split master cylinder brake set up?

Some Deuces actually had a split braking system, the manual is in the TM section. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?module=pagesetter&type=file&func=get&tid=1&fid=file&pid=85 The pics below show an illustration of the system and parts callout from the manual. Don't know if you'd be able...

    another trans question

Gerhard - I went and looked at my truck, I could see the harmonic balancer but thats about it. No way I can see to get a socket in there to turn the engine over by hand without pulling the fan and radiator. Any ideas for me? Maybe do it backwards, turn the engine over from the trans output...
