    Broken Lug Wrench

When running singles on the back of a deuce hub flipping prevents additional wear and damage to the wheel bearings. The M44 trucks (M35A3 and related included) came from the factory with the rear hubs flipped to run singles. The 5-tons can have their hubs flipped too but it's not necessary. I...

    Broken Lug Wrench

Even though the torque multipliers are made of Chinese cast iron, they've done the job for me. I used them to set torque on my A3 rim clamp rings (450 ft-lbs), using a 1/4-in torque wrench and doing the gear ratio math and accounting for about 15% slop (which I verified with a torque meter)...

    My 2nd Deuce

Great find! Now you need an A1 and A0 so you have all four flavors of power :driver:

    Hello from Oklahoma

Welcome to the site! And nice truck  If I got a bedless deuce I'd consider putting a LMTV bed on it. Sometimes dropsides are a nice thing to have!

New To M35A2s, Looking For Input From The Pros

Fortunately the maintenance TMs for the trucks go into great detail in how to do the job. Be prepared to carefully handle the hub and brake drum - they're pretty heavy, so you want to face the assembly straight-on and carefully pull it off the spindle and set it on something like 2x4 boards...

    M35A3 on parade

Fortunately I had no Privates to worry about directing traffic here :D I had one of two military trucks at the lineup. The other one was the MRAP owned by the county's sheriff's department. I think it's an International M1224.

    M35A3 on parade

This was my first time in years driving a MV in a parade, and my first time driving my truck in one! My family and friends rode in the back. I had the tarp rolled up so they were in the shade getting a breeze while I was just in the shade getting little breeze :ROFLMAO:

To CTIS or not to CTIS

I made a video showing how CTIS was added to the original 2 1/2-ton axles and how it gets air to the tires:

    Pair of 1968 M36a2

I'm betting you can find someone on here to trade your M36s for M35s, maybe even bobbed ones. I wouldn't cut them up. I'm still sad the farmer across the street cut up their three or four gasser M36s, even if they no longer had the cargo beds on them.

Help! Metallic "Crunching" Noise When Releasing Clutch In 3rd-5th?

I meant 3rd through 5th gear by that. I think I understand what you're saying now. I originally thought that shift collar stayed engaged after 3rd gear and never considered it beingin a neutral position. I wonder then if the noise starts in 3rd gear if that shift collar is related to that...

Help! Metallic "Crunching" Noise When Releasing Clutch In 3rd-5th?

That makes sense. If that sleeve isn't there or working at all the rear shaft won't spin 3rd gear and up.

Help! Metallic "Crunching" Noise When Releasing Clutch In 3rd-5th?

Based on what I learned yesterday from studying the transmission TM diagrams (thanks again @gringeltaube ) and the problem you're describing, I'm wondering if the problem might be here: That shift sleeve and synchro need to be engaged 3rd gear onward. Perhaps it's broken and slipping?

Is this how a Spicer 3053A works?

Inspired by a recent thread about a concerning drivetrain noise at 3rd gear and higher, I took a hard look at a diagram out of the maintenance TM for the Spicer 3053A. I am by no means a transmission expert, so this has been a bit of a learning experience. Whoever designed the very first...

    Tarp cleaning and stave length

That's really cool! If I get another truck without seats and bows in the back I might try this (y) I think a LMTV bed tarp would be perfect.

    Parking brake

I had no idea there was a removable plate on the bed wall o_O I'm going to have to take a close look at that part of my cargo bed now!

Any ideas for stickies re.: CAD/CAM AND 3D software/hardware.

PM sent. Turns out I was mistaken about the revenue limit on the Fusion license - it's actually $1000. How they'd know how much you make while using their software as a tool I have no clue! Here's the personal use link for Autodesk Fusion: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal

Any ideas for stickies re.: CAD/CAM AND 3D software/hardware.

I run Autodesk Fusion with a hobbyist license, which Autodesk says is valid for individuals who make less than $100k/yr using the software, or something like that. If you're interested in getting into it, I created some tutorial videos which you can access in the link provided in my signature...

Any ideas for stickies re.: CAD/CAM AND 3D software/hardware.

Autodesk Fusion is my go-to for any CAD work. It reminds me of Inventor from when I used that a long time ago. For more artistic stuff I learned how to use Blender as it's an excellent 3D mesh editor.

    Flushing M977 Transmission

If it were my HEMTT and I wanted to do a flush and fluid replacement, I'd probably consult with the local Allison shop to see what they'd put in it. I hate breaking and replacing transmissions, and from what I've read on here any work like that on a HEMTT tends to be more difficult compared to...

    Split Ring Horror??

I've used a couple heavy chains myself for this. I should get a tire cage though. Looking on Facebook Marketplace right now there are several for sale all within an hour from me for anywhere from $100-$200.
