    What's up with these M01097R1s???

oh, and the M1097R1 trucks before serial number 549000 are 3 speeds, serials 570000 to 599000 are 4 speed trucks.

    What's up with these M01097R1s???

1097 is the heavy variant, supposed to be able to carry heavier loads than the standard M998

    M1123 ball joints

The early trucks had smaller mounting holes than the later trucks. Your M1123 is the same as an M998A2 truck for pretty much everything.

Winch and weight forward of the front axle

no, you really aren't going to notice any difference with just adding a winch. 100 lbs isn't much weight, even 2 feet in front of the front axle. might shift your center of gravity forward by an inch or two, but that's about it.

    GovPlanet Humvee Arrival and Inspection

and just a note: DOT 5.1 is NOT silicone based. It's the same as DOT 3 and 4, and will mix with them; it just has similar boiling points to the DOT 5 silicone stuff.

    Humvee Radiator Fan Clutch

the clutch is a dead end system, and the only thing after it is the reservoir so getting a little air into it usually isn't a big deal. Having air applied will provide some force to help unstick everything as you tap on it, but isn't absolutely necessary.

Tags hanging to the frame and body

yeah, they got a few more upgrades in the suspension department as they started adding more armor at the factory.

MEP-831A will not start air compressor

Most inverter type generators won't start motor loads the same way as a conventional generator will. Conventional style it's the rotating mass that helps power past the initial peak current. With inverters it's electronics controlling everything, and either they can't respond fast enough or...

    individual truck history?

not usually unless someone happened to be in that unit and happens to remember that truck. Quite a few of the M1123s never actually got assigned to units, and just sat out in the Barstow desert for a couple decades before being sold off. I know mine is like that because it only had 32 original...

    WHAT IS THIS??

Jack mounts inside, then there should be a black plastic cover that goes over it, held by 2 spring clips like the ones holding the battery box cover. I was told to wrap a ratchet strap or similar around the outside of the case when the jack is installed, because if the cover opens up it can...

Tags hanging to the frame and body

yeah, it kind of does. Putting the BEOD in the back (scale weight 9500 lbs with gear in it) does help soften it up a bit. The main question I've had with the MAK suspension is did they increase the GVWR of the truck with the armor kit installed, or was it still only 10,300 lbs. The armor was a...

Tags hanging to the frame and body

those tags might be the identifier for what springs they are. Mine had tags with the part number for the M1114 springs in the front which are 3 times stronger than the M998 springs (about 3k lbs per inch compression vs 1k lbs per inch compression)

    Humvee Starter / Flexplate Teeth

might be a stupid question, but are you sure the flex plate is installed the correct direction? I don't know if it's possible to do that or not, but it might explain why the starter gear isn't fully engaging if the flex plate has the teeth offset from center and in the wrong direction.. I'd...

    What caused this?

it could be a bad connection caused by the pressure washing, or maybe the water was shorting out one of the plugs, as the connectors are not designed to withstand high pressure water. If it were mine I would just keep an eye on things for now. If it does it again then start troubleshooting the...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Just wanted to make sure. I've seen too many people post things where they think because it's "stainless" that it will never have any type of issue no matter what they do with it. I'm also somewhat near a coast, so very familiar with corrosion here also.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

just remember that stainless steel and aluminum don't like each other, so if you are in a wet or salty environment you might have some corrosion issues.

60 Minutes has a story of military vehicle accidents. Tonight NOW west coast.

The uparmored trucks, or trucks with turrets and weapons mounted on them are higher center of gravity. The plain version with soft top and soft doors has the center of gravity pretty darned low for how wide it is. 60 degree up/downhill and 40 degrees side hill are pretty good.

    So I bought a trailer... (M1101)

usually a motorpool NCO or other authorized person will take you for a check ride in one truck, then sign you off for that series of vehicles (whatever variants that particular unit has on the books). Not so much a test as a verification that you aren't a total idiot behind the wheel. I don't...

    So I bought a trailer... (M1101)

Difference is the earlier trucks had a max tow rating of 3400 lbs, and later trucks or those with upgraded bumper were rated to tow 4200 lbs. So the M1101 is for the lower rated trucks, and the M1102 is for later/reinforced trucks. Driver's license should just say something about HMMWV variants...

    Oil Pressure "LOW" ? 6.5L non-turbo

when I picked up my truck it showed 30psi cold, and 0psi hot idle. Drove it about 1k miles that way. Replaced both the gauge and the sender with new ones, this set reads 60ish oil pressure cold and 30ish hot idle. (until the sender started leaking through the electrical connector and started...
