Well, I got a letter from the DLA today. I guess this means I'm approved. That was quick. I scanned and emailed it to my contact at GL, so hopefully they will bill me and get my invoice out. I'm hoping to be able to pick it up this week. Woo Hoo!
Re: maintenance
I'm kind of in the same boat as you, except mine will only get used on the farm, with the occasional highway trip from the house to the farm. I don't have shop, either, or many of the fancy tools that a lot of guys here have.
I think I will make sure the brakes and engine are...
If somebody wouldn't mind taking a look at my truck, maybe see if it starts or if there are any obvious problems (brakes leaking, etc.), that would be awesome. Send me a PM if you're headed out there soon. Thanks!
I'm curious as to how everyone approaches this. Do you wait for something to leak or break and then fix it, or do you go around replacing seals, gaskets, boots, etc. on a regular schedule.
The reason I ask is that I will be picking up my first deuce soon and after going over the brakes and...
If it's the brakes leaking, a couple pumps should put the pedal all the way to the floor and you'll have an even bigger mess at that wheel. This is assuming you have a single channel brake system.
The fact that it didn't leak until you were on an incline leads me to believe that it's more...
This is probably blasphemy, but is there any sort of commercially available alternative to a mule? I'm not talking about the 4x4 Rhino/Gator/Mule/etc., but a platform-based vehicle like the M274.
If not, it seems like maybe you could build something similar. Is there any chassis or drivetrain...
Re: RE: dangerous truck
I took maddawg's comment as good-natured ribbing for the new guy. Then again, I'm new here and haven't come across anything in poor taste regarding any trucks yet, so maybe I'm naive.
BTW, I think the A3's are kinda cool in their own way. Yes they are different than...
RE: dangerous truck
I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that an M35 can carry 10k+ lbs, it's the potential grade and off-road requirements of a brush truck that is the issue. Hauling corn and mulch around the farm or into town is one thing, driving up the side of a hill, in the woods...
Re: RE: dangerous truck
The bulk of the argument here is not about whether anyone thinks the truck is ugly. I only saw one post about that and I assumed it was in jest, maybe not. The issue at hand is safety and I think everyone has the right to make constructively critical remarks towards...
What's the difference between the M102-M105 trailers? What about the variations (i.e. A1, A2, A3, etc.)? I see the M101 is a 3/4 ton but these all look like 1 1/2 ton cargo trailers to me. What's the correct trailer to match the deuce? Thanks!
I think you probably did well given the mileage and hours. $3k is more than I wanted to pay through GL, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it. Just think about what you're getting for $3k.....pretty good deal, I'd say. The thing I've found out about these trucks is that they're worth only...
