I know this topic has been beaten to death in different sub forums but I am asking this specific to the hmmwv.
I have had a few different diesel engines over the years and some needed more lubrication in the fuel system than others.
I know the multi fuel guys just dump some ATF, 2stroke oil...
I can't speak for a diesel but in my experience wrapping the headers in quite a few different hotrods over the years it always helped the engine run cooler. It cooled the engine compartment significantly and help get the hot gas out the back where it belongs.
Has anyone tried to use a console like the one from thosemilitaryguys?
Like this one.
It would be really handy to put a CB in and a few switches.
I have never seen one in person so I have no idea if it could be modded to work on a HMMWV.
I would definitely drop the pan and see how much metal you in it. Most likely you have a piece of gunk or trash that broke loose and is lodged in the valve body.
Letting a transmission sit is almost as bad as running it to hard.
At the least take it to a shop and get it looked at. It will...
I am looking at a local unit here and I can't figure out what motor it's got. It appears to have a TH400 Trans. Here are the pics from today. It's a 1991.
It has this label on the lower right hand side of the wheel. Absolutely nothing legible on it. There is nothing above the data plate on...
I put the hum V tires on mine and had to do a 4 inch lift. I also had to cut the fenders. It was really easy to do. It tool a couple of hours with a cut off wheel and a body hammer and dolly.
I bought a m1009 several weeks ago and I have started to recondition and upgrade. One of the local MV guys was looking it over and said that the engine was a 6.5 not a 6.2. I don't doubt him but I want to make sure. It's pretty obvious that it's not the original engine. The engine was much...
I have plans to add a set when I get the interior finished. What part number did you get to fit the blazer seats? They are a great cover and work well. A little on the spendy side but worth it. The lack of storage in these things makes these covers worth the money.
I got a little work done this morning. The floorpan has some rust in it (swiss cheese like) and I wanted to see how bad it was. They put some sort of rubber coating on top of it and it hid some of the rust. I am going to have to put some new metal down in places and going to put POR 15...
There is some rust but its not TO bad. The motor has been swapped from a non turbo 6.2 to a non turbo 6.5 or so I was told. I have no way of knowing. The trans would not shift into drive but that was fixed with a little line replacement. It was dry rotted at the trans and at the intake...
I went out and found a 1984 M1009 local here in Mississippi. The tires were in pretty rough shape so I felt like it would be a good idea to drag it home on a trailer. Here are some pictures of the trip home. Also one of it just off the trailer.
