Is it true of all the slews of bugs that the deuce has?

One of the things I want to check on my truck sometime soon is the rear suspension spring seat. I've seen horror stories on here about that spring seat bearing getting out of adjustment and stripping the threads right off it. A good chunk of the rear end has to come apart to pull that piece...

    M54 5-Ton Market Vallue

That's a great-looking 5-ton  I hope you find it a nice home! That said, I've seen drivable M54 trucks go for between $5k and $15k. I agree with @98G that this truck would probably be near the top end of what I've seen considering its condition.

Newbie here looking at a 1970 M35A2 have some questions

I remember looking at that listing. That seemed like a nice truck! I wish I could've put an offer on it but my wife needs another minivan more  Though she likes trucks painted in desert tan!

oil coming out off the hollow stud

When I did my tire replacement I discovered gear oil leaking from three of my rear axle hollow studs. I plan on doing the seals this spring, but I'm wondering now: could a malfunctioning CTIS power manifold cause blown seals? The CTIS ECU on my truck doesn't turn on and the wheel valves are...

    M35A3 CTIS Manifold PSI

Maybe there's too much moisture in the system and it's freezing the air pressure sensor in the manifold? Maybe the air dryer needs to be serviced. Just a guess - I've never had mine apart as I've removed all the CTIS wheel valves from my truck and the system ECU never worked for me.

    Our MTVR camper:

Nice project! I never realized how much the MTVR dwarfs a commercial tractor cab o_O

New to me M35A3, suggestions needed

I took a closer look at the rim. I think that would go on an older 5-ton since it only has ten clamp ring studs on it - probably came off an M939A1 or A2. I think the FMTV wheels have 20 studs. Looks like you have NDT, Michelin XML, and XL tires there.

New to me M35A3, suggestions needed

The one wheel looks like it goes to a 5-ton or FMTV - ten stud holes there. Three kinds of tires there too anyway.

    Title discrepancy? Or confusion?

They need to realize that "zero" is a digit and add them to the VIN  I think that's what NY DMV does in their computers for older vehicles.

Question about Removing CTIS valves and balancing weights from tires

I appreciate your attention to historical detail! I wanted to maintain the CTIS on my truck for the same reason, but I don't have the time or budget to keep it up. Good luck with your project :)

Question about Removing CTIS valves and balancing weights from tires

That's funny - the wheel weights on my M35A3 weren't consistently installed in the right spot either. The TM doesn't even have words to specify where to put them, so I went off the illustrations and my best judgement relative to the position of the CTIS valve. That was shortly before I decided...

    Rust Locations

What are common rust locations on the HMMWV? The only things I've read about so far that really seem susceptible to rust are the frame rails and the wheels, but I get the feeling there are other places too despite the aluminum in these trucks. Are there other rust locations that occur when the...

Should i add dominator trak system to humvee?

When did this end up in the HMMWV forum? :giggle:

    M49A2C

The red part looks like an add-on. I think that truck should have a PTO-driven pump, though if it isn't working it would be easier for some to just attach another pump and hose.

    Tire Jack?

Super singles are easier to handle than I expected, which was nice to find out! The OP seems to be dealing with duals and wants to remove them as duals.

    Tire Jack?

If you go the pallet jack route, make sure you get one with wide enough forks to capture the wheel without having to jack up the truck higher than you need to. The one I got for free was too narrow to support a 46" super single without jacking up the truck a couple inches higher than I wanted...

    M49A2C

Congratulations on your new deuce! You might find someone here who'd want to trade you a cargo truck for that. I understand wanting a cargo truck - the utility of the cargo box was one way I was able to justify the purchase!

Question about Removing CTIS valves and balancing weights from tires

Like some have already mentioned, just remove the valves and wheel weights from the wheel and insert Schrader/tank valves into the wheel's valve stem. If you like the look of your stone guards, you can re-install those probably without worrying about them throwing the wheel off balance. I plan...

where can i get a 5 ton crew cab?

Meanwhile, Canada ordered AWD Navistar trucks with 8-9-person crew cabs for their army :p I think that would be neat in a collection! I like the idea of a crew cab but I have the feeling that crew cab money could go toward a 4-seat HMMWV or another truck to pal around with. Kinda like...

    M813 leaking front axle

It sounds like you need a new axle seal and a boot. I consider boots consumable. They aren't really meant to keep the grease in and the water out - they're more like dust covers than anything, but they do help with keeping greasy mess off the insides of your wheels :p Both of the boots on...
