In a nutshell if the output shaft on the trans spins it does not turn the pump in the trans ( which would move fluid thru the clutches and bearings ect ect). The old Mopar auto trans that had the push button selector had 2 pumps. 1 front and 1 rear. Those you could safely push start those cars...
Proportional is much better to adjust for you different load conditions .Like with a empty load you dont want to drag your trailer tires. And if you have a heavy load you dont want the trailer to push you down the road.

Unfortunately Its really hard to dissasemble a rear of a m920 on a 18 percent grade ( also not safe) Don't mind I bought a axle at all. I have 2 trucks that use the same part. The shop I was at wanted to send the locker out ( as they had never had 1 appart and didn't want to touch it) I have...
