So I got a call from the closest interstate dealer. u6tl's are 3 weeks out and they want about $250 each.
I think I read in another post using 2 8D batteries. Anyone know for sure if they will fit?
As far as hooking them up goes will I need to bring some battery cable and terminals...
After some more searching I see the group 31 batt's mentioned. I need something soon and I probably won't find 6TL's. How well do the group 31's do? I want some good batteries, as the ones in the truck are toast, the water/acid was frozen when I went to look at my truck.
Also, on the...
Re: RE: m818 battery and heater question
That is the best part of the fuel fired one, no warm up. Maybe I could just hook up a fuel fired coolant heater, and then the hot water cab heater.
First off I need new batteries, asap. I'm guessing the 6tl's are not common, what would be a good replacement? What about the large truck batteries that take up the space of 2 regulars?
I'm also going to need a heater, will the deuce heater work on the M809 series trucks? Or is it a...
Can anyone tell me where to get one? I tried saturn but their site said sold out? Anyone have one for sale?
Also, what is the going rate for a 20'? I know copper is getting pretty expensive.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Power steering for the Deuce?
Is this the right one?

I have been looking at this stuff recently, and would love to convert an old v8 I have to run off this stuff, then use it to run a generator. I would have to fabricate the system myself though. It would be nice if there was a way to store the gas. Thoughts of running it through an a/c...
I'm still over in WI, but I did inspect the truck. The guy at the drmo (forgot his name already) was very nice. Took me over to the truck, and even jumped in it for me. Flipped the acc, got power, put it in N, locked the park brake, pushed the starter and she started right up :D
After the...
I'll keep that in mind about just changing them out. I have one batt that is fully charged, other is on the charger right now finishing up. I just got back from filling my truck up w/ fuel, and filled a can w/ diesel to put in the deuce. It's getting expensive at 3.50 a gallon!
Alright, I get it now.
My new idea. I took a 1 battery out of two of my other trucks to bring with. I also have 2 sets of jumper cables. I can use one set to hook the 2 batts up in series to get 24v, and the other set I can hook up the pos of batt 1 to pos. cable on the deuce, and the neg...
I won it at Ft. McCoy, WI 1st EUC and yes I know it will take awhile, but I want to go see what I have to work with now, so I can arrange the rest later.
Can you explain why? Maybe my brain is slow so early in the morning, but i'm not seeing why it would cause a problem. I'll take your word...
Re: RE: Going to inspect my truck, questions
wired as I would have expected. No other deuce, but my DD has 2 batts (12v system though) so I will bring another set of cables to jump it.
No need to worry, I've done 3 frame off resto's so far, so the mechanical knowledge is there. Driven...
I'm going to inspece the truck I won, this friday, and see if I can get it running, and test it out. I didn't do a pre inspection so I hope all goes well.
I've read the "great list" thread, but have some more questions.
Never been inside a duece before so anything you want to throw in feel...
You remove the torx or allen bolts to get the cap off. Then there should be a snap ring over the end of the axle shaft. There is also a large snap ring holding the locking hub inside the wheel hub. It can be a pita to get out until you get used to it. Once you have that out, the locking hub...
