Here is a pic of the motor in my 1009 with a Banks turbo installed for about a year now. It runs only 10 psi boost max, and is always under 1100 on the pyro on steep grades. I found this while locating an oil leak, I thought. . . . It looks to me like the head gasket is leaking oil out between...
I tried "connecting rod bolts" "rod bolts" etc. came up with 500 plus threads. . . . .
Does anyone have a source for 6.2/6.5 connecting rod bolts?
Thanks,
Ed
Can you elaborate on the pump cores?, I was planning on a pump from a 6.2, I thought this would be a good way to go as it is going in a 1028A3, I looked at these:
6.5 L Diesel Heavy Duty Pickup turbocharged Rebuilt Fuel Injection Pump, fits 1992, 1993 OEM# 10183901 $805.50 + $400.00 core...
Is there a TM that deals with the 6.5 engine only? like the TM for the LDT/LDS Multifuel engine. I'm looking for teardown/rebuild info. I have a few of the HMMWV TM's but they only cover repairs that can be accomplished inframe. Don't want to waste my money on a Haynes manual. . . .
Thanks...
If you have a boost gauge and pyro I would think you could adjust the fuel to not go much over 10 on boost and keep it at 1100 or so?, and not need the waste gate?
It wasn't just the 1009's, most of the solid front axle chevys I've seen have a wider front than rear. They added the spacers so the rear tires would stick out the same distance as the fronts.
Has anyone put one in a truck and retained the (functioning) waste gate? I'm talking about a side mount turbo, serpentine belt 6.5 out of a 97ish GM pickup, with the computer controlled IP etc. . . .
I'm aware that to install in a 1028A3 the computer controlled IP goes away, along with the...
Nick, if it is liner material, that would jibe with the fact that this motor may have been overheated when that oil cooler cover developed the leak, we always thought it might have damaged the motor due to overheating. But the darn thing ran so well. . . .
Good God, I forgot about that freakin chrome stack. . . . .
And the bus tires. . . .
I'm willing to start a flat black rattlecan fund for Nick, or perhaps a "no chrome intervention" where SS members show up at Nick's place and cover up all the shiney items on trucks that should...
Goog luck with the recovery today Nick! Wish I was closer, I'd be more than happy to help out, but I'm sure you've got all the help you need. :-P
And remember, this recovery is: nopics
