stb and I are into A1s, and I am into USMC trucks...could we see some pics of your interior, dash tags, etc. and exhaust? Do the C clip tie down deals on the bottom of the sides of your bed above the tires have gusset plates welded on the outsides of them?
I haven't done it yet, but I'm told...
Minions fishing clean parts out of the scrubber.
Before :
After: Spray bottle, broom, compressed air, rags, not bad. Can't decide if or with what to paint the internals. It's all getting assembled with Never-Seez for sure...
Lots of the parts look "new" but installed dry, no grease...
Ahab, this may interest you...when the ceramic rocks get worn out, they get small and get stuck in everything, need new rocks.
Also, the tumbler does a good job of removing civvy paint and keeping the tough OD. Too bad I can't tumble my whole truck.
Yeah, I figured as much, don't want to spend the $ on all the cleaner if I don't have to.
I tried dropping the front hub without the drum in the parts cleaner, too big, maybe if I knock out the studs and remove the adapter, but probably more work that it's worth.
A guy could probably use...
Didn't get a lot done tonight. Got interrupted and not working as late. Just brought in spare rear axles and pulled off tires and spring/dogbone mounts, robbing brake parts off them tomorrow. Since the front axle is so rough, I may swap it for the complete front axle from the donor truck...

nb102, I'd love to see more pictures an info on your truck if you're still around. Researching A1s as I have one that's in rough shape. (In my signature)
Thanks!
Ah-hah! All kinds of goodies on what looks like a pretty original '62 A1.
Scroll to the bottom. Anyone know any members in Portland, IN?

I will try to get over to Jack's and check out his exhaust.
I'm still curious about shifters and now steering wheels. I have a gasser shifter with one bend and a shifter from an A1 that was converted to A2 (the parts truck I got my cab and bed from) and has the two-bend shifter. I guess it's...
I have (negative) experience with flat and semi gloss paints on other vehicles. I'm in the desert, so I get fading and chalking from hard water, etc. Handwashing keeps it down some, but wears the paint off. I want to paint my deuce USMC Semi Gloss Forest Green. I'm thinking about doing it in...
I gotta figure out which way to take my pictures with my phone so they post upright, sorry.
I was just gonna get the bed, but I found out the donor was a USMC A1, so I can call it "original" and the cab price came down to "too good to pass up", saved me hours/days of fixing my cab rust.
It...
