RE: Re: Toe-in with singles and radials - thoughts?
 I will definitely be checking out the ubolts and the wheel bearings!!!
PS BTW next project, which I need to finish before April 12th, will be a wastegated exhaust brake. I have the pacbrake unit now, along with a Chelsea PTO...
I just had a thought.... wouldn't it be cool if you could figure out the front driveshaft disconnect from an airshift t case, and use that to engage and disengage the trailer?
Also, what about using the torque tube from a mog? I used one on my buggy and it pretty much rocks. Granted, I didn't...
My local true value has 1" NC, if you can believe it. Fine thread isn't that much rarer in that size, and I can't imagine such a beast costing any more than $5 or $10 at a local fastener shop.
Dexonline shows a Fastenal located in Harrisonburg. I actually use fastenal here in Boulder to source...
RE: Re: Toe-in with singles and radials - thoughts?
Thanks for the welcome.
I've been pretty busy with other projects. I pulled the engine in my Audi allroad in December for some bigger turbos, and I've been working working working on my crawler - rearsteer, diy beadlocks, front link...
RE: Re: Toe-in with singles and radials - thoughts?
Thanks for the notes.
Semi ruts around here are twin tracks in the road bed, that aren't caused so much by heavy truck traffic, as trucks with chains on them. The abrasion from the chains beats up the asphalt so bad that even my 2001 audi...
Lately, I've been trying to track down the cause of a weaving on highways with semi ruts, which manifests itself as a dead spot in the wheel and a slow, well, weave from the rear tandems.
This task is is tough because I've changed just so much on this truck. I'm singled with dually wheels in...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Might be looking to start over- built 32
Thanks for the thought. This moment, I'm set on working on the 3208. That said, 5 minutes from now, though, I could be interested. ;)
RE: Re: RE: Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuc
Yeah... I think I'm going to stay with the 3208. I found an old Cat guy who's going to help me hop it up.
Oh yeah - I seriously doubt this tranny will fit behind the LDT... it's very, very long.
x2. The brakes will work without assist but just barely. Also, recall these trucks have an ebrake, which will stop the truck from a slight roll (such as getting it off a trailer). That is, if either system doesn't have a failure issue. ;)
Re: RE: Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuce th
Road speed isn't a terrible concern with .73OD and 46" rubber, but that's good feedback.
I guess I may be looking at the cummins from a light truck... that has a redline above 3000, and you can bomb the hell out of those engines...
RE: Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuce though
Bolt up is a relative term. I'm already at the safe compression limit on the stub shaft between tranny and t case - any bigger of a tranny would put me at the limit.
Oh yeah, and I already have a 9 speed road ranger, essentially...
Pretext: I have this deuce I've dropped a 3208 and a Spicer 6855 (.695OD ) tranny into. I'm overall very happy with the power it offers, but I'm wondering if something in the 300 or so HP range wouldn't be better for the hills around here (such as Vail Pass, one of the highest in the Interstate...
HRD, the tranny was $1700, configured to my specs and shipped. It is a fully rebuilt tranny, so I'm pretty fired up about it.... considering that I spent $700 on my 6588 and then dropped another $400 or more rebuilding it.
So this 3208T you have.... it's good to know it exists. What would you...
RE: j-pipe
I welded a new patch of metal over my rusted J pipe.... I bent and kerfed out some pipe that matched the OD... and welded it on with some fluxcore. It looked nasty when I put it on, but then I cleaned up the welds and shot it with flat black, and it doesn't look so bad.
