Biggest thing is starting rpm for a cold diesel. Take the batteries in the house and charge both fully, makes a big difference. I run WMO year round, down to 0 degrees. Usually thin it with some gas in the winter.
Galion, OH. SR71blackbird. Here is his thread, don't know if he is still building them.

This is how I pulled mine off. Didn't take that long once I had a socket fixed up. Believe it is 11/16, and ground the end of the socket to turn it with a wrench.
Glad you found a design that will work. I install large tapered bearings at work once in a while, they are 20in, and support 20 ton flywheel. Pretty sure they would be overkill, and last time I dropped one boss was not happy... 3,000.00 bearing, and 6 month lead time.
I would think 60psi is enough, the low air buzzer is set to warn at 60. That is mainly for brakes though. Air piston is about 2 in dia, so at 60 psi it would have 188lbs engaging it. You can push the piston in by hand fairly easy.
LOL... thought that might have happened guppy. Think the rod is adjustable also, don't know if they end up being different lengths for different trucks. Pulled the transmission's a few times, so memory was still fresh on that one.
Here ya go, a wind up starter for diesel engines, up to 18 liters. No batteries, air starters, or cranking on the crankshaft, just a lot of cranking on the starter to wind it up.
Startwell Mechanical Starters - Diesel Engine starting - spring starter - back up starter- startwell - simms -...
If you have some kind of pop up blocker, that might do it. Manage attachments opens in a new window. I tried using my phone here on ss, and while it worked on some things, I decided it was a pain in the butt. Bought a net book and used the phone as it's modem, and now I have a full fledged...
I was getting ready for haspin one year and put about the same size drill bit through the left index finger. Drill bit broke while I was drilling out a rivet on a pulley. Kind of interesting to see meat curlings instead of metal ones. Got stitched up and went to haspin a couple days later...
If you don't run the truck much, or only for short drives, condensation can build up in the valve covers. I had this happen a lot on my jeep engine. A good long drive usually cleared it out.
I've also towed my 1061 all over. It's heavy, but the pumps are turned up in my trucks and I can move along just fine. It brakes very well, empty it will skid the tires too easy. Deck height is 37in, which is perfect workbench for me. And with the top and frame it can be an enclosed trailer...
