    More electrical ghosts - M1009

I'd start checking your ground connections. There is one behind the gauge cluster that grounds the cluster electronics, and I'd also pay a visit to the headlight grounds. As for the latter, someone posted a thread recently about the whereabouts of the grounds for the headlights.

    Tachometer not working!!

If it doesn't bounce, you need a new (or working used) Tach. Mine never bounced, but it read in the neighborhood of 300 RPM to high. I put in a good working used tach, and now everything reads where it should. I didn't do anything to the cable. Also, a tip on removing the tachometer from the...

    Headlight Grounding

Are you replacing the lever, or the actual dimmer switch that is mounted on the steering column and is actuated by a rod connected to the lever?

    New M1009 - good but...

I've used Doraville Driveline before, too, and highly recommend them. They did some work on a PTO driveshaft for one of the tractors. They know their stuff.

    Hand Crank Deuce

Since people are discussing using cranks to start other vehicles, this cannot be said enough! Also, NEVER EVER EVER wrap your fingers all the way around the handle of the crank. If it backfires, you want the crank to be able to slip out of your grasp WITHOUT taking any of your fingers with it!

    Wheel Cylinder Junction Block

Upon installing new brake hoses on the Deuce, I killed the threads in the brass junction block on the wheel cylinder with the LAST dang hose I was putting on. I've already got one on the way from Saturn, but since I'm impatient, does anyone know of a Civvy counterpart that I could pick up at...

    Para Cord Steering Wheel Wrap

You should get him to do up an "Instructable" on intructables.com for that. They have loads of things you can do with 550 cord, but that seems to be about the most useful I've seen.

    Heated Mirrors

It doesn't take much; they just gotta to get over 32° F and/or the ambient temperature.

I thought spin on filters was a civi mod...

It seems like this is what it is. The plate says "NON-TACT VEH CONVERSION" Translating that into non-DOD english: "This truck is a converted non-tactical vehicle" as in the OK dealership provided them with 25 straight-up Civvy Blazers and the Army gave them a coat of CARC and some of the...

M1009 bumpers pita to remove...6 hours...

Is there space to lock a big pair of vice grips down hard on the carriage bolt where it will stop it from turning while you undo the nut? I had to do that on the 60 year old carriage bolts that attached the fenders to the axle on my Ford tractor, but there was plenty of clearance. Not sure...

    M1009 Blues

Did you check any and all of your wire connections? One remembers the adage that is so true with military trucks... "you can trust your mother, but you can't trust your ground"

WHOA!! The M818 weighs 19k, but it's GVWR (which is what the CDL requirement is based off of in the state of Georgia) is in the neighborhood of 30k. Commercial vehicles are defined as having a GVWR of 26,001 lbs or more. From the Georgia CDL Driver's Manual: EDIT: The above manual (HIGHLY...

    Got my snow plow mounted!

For some reasons that link isn't working... it takes you to the youtube mobile website. Go to where your video is and click the "share" tab underneath the video (on Youtube.com), and it should have a link there for you to copy and paste on SS On another note, that is a FINE looking setup...
