So originally I was looking into CARC for my HMMWV, but the powder coating is specifically an idea I'm researching for some "tactical" aluminum folding chairs I've designed. they are for indoor outdoor use.
The feel and durability of CARC is something that I've grown very fond of and it may...
Does anyone know a source for CARC powder coating?
There's someone locally here that does powder coating but I'm guessing I'd have to supply the powder...
I know that sherwin williams sells standard CARC formulas.
Thanks!
The only instructions I found where for the " Non-Bumper Mounting Kit" which actually uses a short piece of rectangle tube like that which the bumper is made out of.
http://www.rhinolift.com/pdfs/500-003%20Install.pdf
it ends up covering the end of the frame rail.
That is not what I am asking...
Does anyone know how the spare tire carrier in the attached image is installed?
I contacted Rico and they said that this frame mounted tire carrier kit is no longer available aftermarket.
Has anyone ever seen or have any illustrations of how it's secured?
What's involved in centering the front differential? Do I need a lift?
I understand that theoretically both shafts would then be the same length, but which shafts would fit? guessing rear?
Why wouldn't the manufacturer center the differential from the start? must be a good reason?
Trying to decide whether to just replace boot or entire half shaft.
The unknown is how long the truck has been driven with compromised boot(how much dirt has gotten in).
if I'm already taking it apart, is my time better spent replacing the whole assembly?
If replacing, should I upgrade to...
Is it normal for the generator to cycle on/off for the first few minutes after starting?
The voltage arrow jumps up and down while this is happening.
Also, How tight should the belts be to the generator?
I don't have a tensioner so I do a thumb test(push down on the belts midspan).
they seem to...
Is it necessary to bleed the power steering system when doing the V-belt swap?
If a little air gets in would it not just make it's way out through the reservoir eventually?
For the price of two boots I can have a whole new upgraded shaft with two new boots included.
And without the labor of cleaning out the contaminated grease and repacking the boot. Also, who knows how long that boot has been open...
No worries
Still wondering if I've got the correct part numbers...
Thankfully I'm not in a hurry, It's just an open dust boot for now, probably won't replace it until the joint starts clicking...
Thought I was just bringing it back to life from a nap it started in 2012.
Figured why start a new thread(and create clutter) when this one already related so closely to my one question.
Your info on 12k shafts is appreciated but it might be a little confusing if reading the posts in...
as I just mentioned, I would like to avoid installing the 12k shaft since I'm only replacing one shaft.
However, I figure I might as well upgrade the original 10k to a 10.3k since it's heavier duty and doesn't require modified hubs/gears like the 12k.
My question was just about double checking...
What are the part numbers for the old and the new improved 10k shafts(10.3k)?
Is part number 12341985-4 (2520-01-382-872)for the upgraded front right shaft?
Planning on replacing only one shaft(due to blown dust boot) for now.
12k's would probably be overkill since I have a stock 6.2 and I am...
Before it kicks on is it normal for the fan to spin at all?
I just picked my Humvee up a few days ago and only ran it long enough to inflate the tires and drive up onto the trailer.
started right up on a 20ºF day, batteries look new.
air filter was last "blown out" in 2012 and still looks very...
are all of these compatible with the M988 6.2liter? what's the difference between Wix 51060 and Wix 51061?
could I use the wix 51794?
I've read that it is used in many of the same applications as the 51061, but it's longer so more filter surface area inside.
Thank You CARNAC,
I had previously thought that the part numbers in the manual might be military specific and thus probably not compatible with a search at a place like NAPA .
I plan to do labeling somewhat as you suggested.
Finally got my HMMWV home.
I understand that the same 6.2 liter Detroit diesel V8 was used in Chevrolet and GMC trucks as in the M998.
What parts are interchangeable between those civilian vehicles and the M998?
Also,
What's the best source and/or specification for the following?
*all...
Great idea!
I actually have about 20' of 10" diameter fire hose in my workshop. was going to use it to make bladders for a wood and fiberglass laminating press I was designing.
It's been collecting dust for a few years but I knew it would eventually be useful for something!
