    Please clean your chimneys

With a wood stove chimney fire, get a large glass of water--open the stove door--pitch the glass of water into the stove and shut the door. The steam from the water hitting the fire goes up the pipe and smothers the fire. Repeat as needed. Jim

Help With Identity of Old WW2 Diesel Generator On Trailer.

Yes, a slight curve (inlet into the top edge for lack of a better description) in the top inside edge on both sides of the body sides, rather than just a 90 degree edge. Does not go the full length--just a couple of feet maybe ( I don't have one and have not seen one in person--just going by...

Help With Identity of Old WW2 Diesel Generator On Trailer.

HHOOOOOOOWEEEEEEEE!!!, Bubba has outdone hisself on that one!! With my limited knowledge, I'll throw a stab at it----- Yes, it is a trailer of the M-221 family and does look to be the M-7 Generator trailer, these have a fixed tongue and the four screw style leveling jacks through the...

    M135

Congrats on the truck. And getting the title that is in your Grandad's name is priceless!! My two cents worth----If the truck is a long way from home you may just want to fold/pickup everything manually and transport. Then things tend to go easier at home base while trying to free up engines...

    WWII Tank retriever scraping

Sheesh! Somebody please remind me to never throw anything away!! I just emptied my messages file so I can't go back and see what exactly was said during my contact with the OP. Anyway, since I am close and have access to a lowboy, I contacted the guy about buying the jammer. He said he had it...

    help removing lugnuts

A "pork Chop" is a small but VERY useful tool when working with large truck lug(bud) nuts The large end goes around the outer nut- the "hook" end gets placed in a hand hold and then use the square socket to run the nut of the "thimble". Just remember to reverse the air gun----. Once you get...

New truck and a stuck brake! M923

OK!! I am not familiar with the 923 series of trucks but do have lots of experience with large commercial trucks. If (I assume they are) equipped with standard, modern air brakes, then release the park brake (push in knob on the dash). Have someone listen at the corner in question--if there...

    Deuce Price

I bought my gasser in 2008 from the local Fire Dept. Was REALLY disapointed it was not a multi fuel.REEALLY wanted a multifuel. Had all the visions of burning vegie oil or waste oil to save money on driving costs. Even bought a Multi engine in a can to put in it. Well---reality took over...

The deuce and a spray plane

There is a great video on you tube --"Aerial Crop Dusting: Australia". It shows the action from all angles-- I will try to post the link--if I can't make it work maybe someone more computer savvy can get it on here. If you like Ag aircraft or are curious-this video is a must see!

    Removing M1009 Windshield???

Ditto what DH says , BUT usually the rubber becomes stuck to the sheet metal of the cab. An important step is to take a plastic stick (any glass shop would probly give you some) and slide it along between the rubber and the sheet metal to insure it's unstuck. Then take the stick and make sure...

    FWD Wheel mount Military crane

Well here is an update on the ol' girl---- not good. I noticed Denny (the owner) putzing around the crane yesterday--then later I saw it was gone from the highway and moved over to his shop (under it's own power). Then I bumped into him at the parts place in town----- He said tommorrow...

    Proper vehicle loading for safety

I was browsing the local Craigslist for any MV's (yeah, that's it, that's the ticket!) and ran across this add for a Toyota pickup. Having been and still am a Toyota owner, I thought I'd click on it to see what was offered for 1000.00 bucks--hey maybe I could use it for MVrecon and parts...
