Below is the way I did mine. I wanted to retain the mechanical fuel pump, and Banks wouldn't sell me one of their plates.
I ran braided stainless 6-AN from the port on the driver's side of the block under the intake and to the turbo. I'm also running a 6.5TD passenger side valve cover and CDR...
I bought mine from GL and paid a little over $1500 for it. I looked in on the ebay, craigslist, etc and never found any that seemed worth whsat they asking. I ended up with a nicer truck than anything I could find for $3000 or less. The downside to GL is the wait for the first-time EUC. I do...
I washed it one day, and snapped a few shots when it was wet. After seeing it like that, I entertained the idea of going glossy for about a minute, but I want mine to look like your's!
Overall is leaded fuel is bad for engines. I agree with that. Putting leaded fuel or additives in a vehicle in a vehicle with hardened valve seats is pointless. However, if you don't put it in engines without hardened valve seats, the valve beats the valve seats and ends up sinking the valves in...
I will say that adding a particular element that has been taken out of oil or fuel is acceptable. Early 70's and prior gassers were designed to run with leaded fuel, so a lead additive is needed to to make the valves seats live since they are not hardened. Flat tappet cams need a break-in oil...
The FTC has sued Just about all of them for not doing what they say they will do. Their so-called proving demonstrations are a controlled model. We've all seen the bench mounted inline six (or slant six) running with their miracle juice. Several manufacturers have tested new engines side by side...
BTW, I bought a pair of "OEM" rockers from Classic Parts for a '69 C-10 I had, and had a sticker that read "Made in Taiwan R.O.C" on itaua OEM? - yeah right!
Classic Parts sells the same stuff as LMC, Whitney, Year One, etc. Most of that comes from the company that owns the truck and car shop in CA and is shipped east, which is why their prices are better. Cars Inc is one of the only places that sells sheet metal made in the USA, and they do not sell...
Absolutely worth it! I have added a 6.5 turbo sets to a few different trucks, and it is like driving another truck. The 6.5 turbo keeps the truck from dragging off on hills and it accelerates effortlessly. The small, wastegated design of the GM-X series turbos create almost instant spool, with...
That's right. Those seats actually came up until the 80's. Most civilian Blazers in the 80's do not have the same seats that the M1009's do, unless they were the most basic, stripped down models.
The 6.5 pump is going to have more potential for power if you decide later you want to lower compression ratio or whatever and go for more power. The 6.2 pump will be adequate if you turn it up 1/4 - 3/8 of a turn when you put the turbo on, but its not far from maxed out there. It just depends...
Oh OK. I experimented some, and sprayed the Rapco paint a little dry, and I achieved some texture to it. It actually looks close to the CARC. I think I could do it even more successfully with my paint gun instead of the rattle can.
I did not know that. What kind of paint was used originally, and was it textured like CARC?? My M1009 has been repainted inside and out with CARC, so I cannot see any factory paint. I did buy some NOS mirror heads, and they do not look like the CARC on my truck. It looks more like just flat...
