Where are all the HMMWVs going?

ISIS? Seems that despite the law's best efforts, these things end up in hands they were never intended for - AM General should be ticked about this acquisition... On a less depressing note, I think there is actually a demand for these on farms, where 1) superior off-road capabilities in a truck...

Any real benefit to installing a roll bar on M1009 ??

Again, it's a rough sketch. Keep in mind that everything that isn't triangle shaped (the strongest shape in geometry) can deform in an event. Note that without any triangular reinforcement in the windshield area, the top edge of the windshield could be pushed inwards. This would impart a lot...

Any real benefit to installing a roll bar on M1009 ??

Yes, I do think it's practical/possible to build a cage that works for a daily driver. My above post was more to indicate it was going to cost more than 4-sticks of tube :) Just a rough sketch, the orange bars go to the floor in the rear - this should be made removable. The green bars are...

Any real benefit to installing a roll bar on M1009 ??

For a K5 Blazer (M1009) I can see using more than 4 "sticks", especially if you want to retain the rear seat... One 12-16' stick would be your main "hoop" in the B-pillar, one 5-6' stick would be a diagonal in the hoop (not even meeting the minimum structural needs IMHO though) - two crossing...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Thanks for the other lead - I have no idea where I got the price I put up for the blaze orange, or maybe it has gone down (or the exchange rate moved drastically) since the last time I checked. Before shipping/taxes a 55meter spool is about $55 - after shipping/taxes they say about $84. I...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Funny side-note, father-in-law mentioned that he is not "tent camping" anymore after this trip - too much fuss I guess. I'll probably be able to convince him and my mother-in-law to camp if there are cots and private rooms with heat and light though :)

Copper Scrap Thieves --> CRISPY CRITTERS

Reminds me of one of many stories of thieves actually stealing the building's structure from over themselves.

Deuce tail roller and bed winch, skid loading setup

Are you working the tailgate into the extra pin length on the roller?

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

I'll give it a stab... Intent, multi-role camp: Large Family/"Scouting" Camp, "Comfortable" hunting lodge [thumbzup] CERT/SAR C2+Support Camp Emergency shelter and triage, Improvised Field Hospital Assuming I ever get to a rally... a field day setup. Constraints: Two person setup, one hour...

Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

A professionally trained Engineer will tell you, if we don't truly understand it, we design its use in such a way as to mitigate the risks if we made a mistake.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm on the road right now. I think I spoke to the filtering subject in a previous post, a fuel filter which circulates only the fuel in the aux tank will catch sediment and algae and water and return it to your tank. I think you ended up doing just a simple inline...

Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

The sticking point I've come to is the repackaging - putting the Pri-Ocide in a smaller container (that will last a year or more) and then shipping it is killing me. I have too found the drum and 5-gallon pails (I bought a 5-gallon pail), but that looks to be as good as it gets. I wouldn't...

Some people will do anything to see boobs... Like the idea of the tow truck mod.

Is import of HMMWV in to the U.S. allowed?

I wonder if I could import an M1A1 after I steal it from ISIS? :grd:

    Distracted driving

Yeah, hand-in-hand with inability to take reponsibility for our actions, comes inability to take necessary action, and indigestion... [thumbzup]

    Distracted driving

I've always enjoyed when this point is brought up by people here in the US - it's funny to me how much all the other drivers are relying on the drivers in front of them to break the law that they don't feel the need for the 2-seconds rule for their own safety (because "it's the other driver's...

    Quad Steering

I just want to point out that doing all-steer and the above sentence clash... [thumbzup] There are many ways to do rear-steering - I've been looking at them for my bus project for about a decade. AVOID Oshkosh's HET/HEMTT/PLS steering like the plague if you plan on doing highway driving...

Deuce tail roller and bed winch, skid loading setup

Those add heat - any reason you aren't just matching the flow of the pump to the intended use? Multiple loads?
