Looking for info on a used MEP-803a

Is the AC a constant 5500w draw, or is there a range? The 802 will put out 6250w with ease, and I often can test up to 7kw for duration, for what its worth.

Posting about current auctions is against the site guidelines, but if you want to PM the link to me I'd be happy to give you my thoughts, for whatever they are worth.

    Saving deeply discharged Optima 51R's

Ive used this model many times on customer machines: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-t-51r-automotive-battery?solr=1&cm_vc=-10005 Little trick to Tractor Supply (at least all of them around here)... buy them online, they can't ask you for a core turn in like if you bought in...

Looking for info on a used MEP-803a

These sets are not getting easier to find, or less expensive (at least sets that don't look like Tim Curry in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, or that were rolled behind a HMMWV). If you are seriously considering buying one you will have to deal with items like this. Fuel leak is no big deal, so...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

Definite possibility. Doubt I will ever get such a chance again, which is why no matter the cost... I had to jump on them.

    Alternator parts?

You can get a brand new alternator on the big auction site under the search term "MILITARY MEP 802A 803A GENERATOR 24 VOLT 35A REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR 8MR3005 ". $219 plus freight. Seller happens to be SS member Suprman, maybe you can reach out to him directly on it.

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

In looking through my notes, I have purchased this before: https://www.armyjeepparts.com/p-2338-34094-lusterless-carc-green-rattle-can-34094.aspx I recall it being similar, like 95%, but not identical. Being that its truly not CARC (which is a good thing for your health), perhaps its not able...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

I will probably end up running John Deere break in plus, just because I don't see any harm in doing it that way regardless... just musing really.

Installed Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge on MEP-803A

How has the gauge held up over time? I assume with flying colors.

    Absolutely is, thank you

    Manual oil pressure gauge

My searching skills are failing me now... a user here had posted up a real slick manual oil pressure gauge install with a T at the sender.., believe it was on an 802. Does anyone recall that thread, or can link to it? Considering putting one in my unicorn. Thanks

Real sharp genset... love the old styling!

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

One thing that I found interesting in discussing these machines with a DRS factory guy the other day... Lister Petter provided the engines to DRS with break in oil (just like the tag states on any Tier reset units with under 100hrs on them). That's not the interesting part... he states that "We...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

No, these were not offered through the auction chain. I was offered them by a private party whom I have received gensets from before. I have not made up my mind on what I want to do with the second one (the other unit was made available to a local SS member), so I would rather not discuss what...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

The unit photographed had the larger dent towards the back, the other had a bit more dust on it, and seemingly a very small impression dent near the top left corner of the dead crank door. I believe both were damaged in whatever warehouse they had been sitting.... but yeah, I almost rejected...

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

I have never seen load lugs or the operator control box so clean. To have a set that has never gone down range is pretty special... but two??

    Unicorns are real.... NOS MEP-802A

Chaps, I didn't think it was possible. I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire 2 NOS MEP-802A units. These are honest to goodness, never fielded units as best I can tell. They still have the original tape over sheet metal seams, battery connections, heck... one of them retained part of the...

    Mep-003a fuel filter help.

The unit that I just installed came from the big auction site... if you search 'ONAN Military MEP-002A MEP-003A Spin On Cartridge Oil Filter Adapter Generator ' it should bring you right to it. Will see if I can snap a picture after work of it installed with a Wix filter in place.
