    CUCV starting problems

3/8 deep socket usually does it, unless they are swollen. If they are swollen there are a few approaches to removing, all of which have been discussed many times here. Try to see if they come out normally before you worry about that. I would recommend AC 60 glow plugs, which have are somewhat...

    CUCV starting problems

If it fires up and immediately stalls, then can be started after several tries, I would guess an air leak in fuel system. If truck is stock, the first place to look is the fuel pressure sensor in the fuel filter base. This sensor is pretty much useless unless you have a bit of obsolete test...

Which LMC printed circuit for gauges?

I understand that. The point I was trying to make is that Gen2 light and exciter circuit are 24V, that is why it requires a relay, and why the LMC circuit will probably not work. If you want to verify this, unplug the bottom center fuse, fuse #12 I think. Below is Warthog's helpful thread on...

Which LMC printed circuit for gauges?

I'm pretty sure that will not work in a CUCV. Civilian 6.2 chevy trucks with warning lights covered oil, temp, alt & 4 wheel drive. I could be remebering wrong, but I'd call LMC and confirm what is in the 4 warning lamps before ordering or attempting to install in stock truck. The CUCV has...

That is for the wire for the tach sensor in the STE/ICE test machine.

M1008 Instrument Lights and Volt Gauge?

Probably time to take out the cluster, clean some contacts and check some bulbs. It is not difficult, but can take some time if your have not done before. I usually take the dash pad off, makes it easier to get the speedo cable off back of cluster, and get a look at heat control too. If...

    6.2 on its way out?

If it were my truck, I guess my focus would be try to get off street somehow, at this point.

    Dog head starter relay

Perhaps now is a good time for you to familiarize yourself with the TMs for this truck. Specifically TM 9-2320-289-20, this is page F-4. All this and more available right here on forum in TM section. There are a couple of errors in these diagrams, but I don't think here. Looks like...

    Dog head starter relay

Is the purple & white wire still hooked up to relay, or do you get voltage from wire even if not connected to anything? If it is still hooked to relay, it is probably a defective or ground switched relay. Or maybe hooked up wrong. If you get voltage and wire is not hooked to anything...

M1008 Instrument Lights and Volt Gauge?

You would do yourself a favor to have some basic test gear, even a test lite. Also might not be good to assume dash light good by visual inspection of element. Can't help further with info provided, good luck.

    Dog head starter relay

It is likely either the relay, or the way you hooked it up. Red is hot, 24V, purple goes to starter, black to ground, purple & white goes to ignition switch. Purple should only show 24V when 12V current is sent on purple & white wire, that should only happen when ignition switch is turend to...

M1008 Instrument Lights and Volt Gauge?

If under dash light works, it confirms there is current coming out of service light dimmer switch. When you say bulb is "not blown", I'm assuming you tested it and it is OK. If this is the case and it is not coming on, then it could be a problem with dimmer part of headlight switch. You will...

    My First CUCV

The NP 203 transfer case is from an older truck. I would not assume the splines are the same, also, they are full time 4WD, no ability to put front drive shaft in neutral. You are much better off with the 208. If it was a choice between a 205 and a 208, I'd go with the 205, but is completely...

M1008 Instrument Lights and Volt Gauge?

The under dash light is located under dash between the ash tray and glove box, if you want to check the bulb. Are you getting 24V to the positive feed on meter? If so, the meter is probably bad. The dash lights could easily be a separate issue.

M1008 Instrument Lights and Volt Gauge?

The volt meter is on a 24V circuit and there is one 24V fused circuit in the fuse box. The instrument cluster is 12V, with the exception of the Gen 2 exciter circuit. here are a few tings to check: It could be just a fuse, agree checking and cleaning them is a good place to start...

    6.2 on its way out?

If you want to evaluate the overall mechanical condition of the engine, a simple compression test will tell you a lot. But I agree with others here that problem sounds fuel related, and likely the IP.

A civilian K-5 will usually have a 60A alt. Output of both alternators needs to be the same if your truck is 24V.

    Gen 1 Light Romantic Glow

If you are fairly mechanical, it is not hard to "rebuild" them either. Usually I don't replace the bearings unless they need it, just the diodes, voltage regulator, and sometimes the rectifier. I think forum member Tow4 (in post #8 on this thread) may still sell kits. If not search parts for...

    Gen 1 Light Romantic Glow

At 13.9, is either under charging, or battery is run down and pulling current. If battery is low, voltage should creep up in a couple of minutes. Like curtisje said, diode is an internal component of alternator, if you are not into going that far into it, just get it rebuilt (or buy a...

    Gen 1 Light Romantic Glow

Probably a diode going bad. Test w volt meter, should be above 14V when charging, even at idle.
