In April, a friend and I went to a local junk yard that has been closed for a while. The original owner is gone, but the son is still mining the yard for high grade scrap. Says he has a "tank" engine in one of the trailers, so we look it over and decide it is a ground power unit. Friend buys it...
There seems to be a constant stream of 5 ton transfer case questions/problems that pop up on this site. Any suggestions for a thread addressing the bulk of these questions so when new members ask, they can be directed to one post? Of all the systems on the 5 ton trucks, this one item seems to be...
It was above 35F today so I thought I would try to start both trucks that are parked @ the shop for the winter to recharge the batteries and give them a little "run". The M139 was driven into the yard in early Nov. and has not been started since and the M812 just has been idle, last started...
Have installed a new (to us) gauge panel in the Mack tractor, and now the temp gauge "jumps" between rest and actual reading or full & actual when running. Have also had this problem with the water truck on the oil pressure, when running down the road, it will peg but if you let up on the gas...
Still looking for a gasket or full rebuild kit for the replacement Zenith carb used on the R6602 gassers, starting in the 1980's. Have had no luck as of yet. Anyone have a good lead or suggestion? The carb # is C182-1187A List #0-13926 Model 29D14R.
Thanks
We were still looking into how to use our little 3 kw gen set to run the entire house on 240 volts, and I found this info on smokstak.com:
"Install 12 or 10 ga. jumper between LO and TB-6 and set selector in 240 volt"
or "Install jumper between S1-5 and S1-6 w/ selector in 240 volt"
This...
We also loaned the 1.5 KW unit to the guy across the street from me, and he ran it for about 24 hrs total. This unit is really beat, and it started to miss-fire and act funny. Finally took it apart, and the carb float was sticking and one plug not firing right. Replaced plug lead with one...
Here in NH we had a real bad ice storm on Thursday night, and power is still out for over 120,000 homes. My son took the 3 KW unit to his condo and hooked-up the icebox, the heater, a few lights and the TV and hooked up the condo across the drive so the little kids over there could have heat...
Ever since we got the truck, the exhaust manifold center outlet has been broken, and it was slowly getting worse. Finally, this spring I removed the unit from the spare parts truck and had it cleaned up at the local machine shop. We installed it yesterday in the misty rain.
I am posting this on the 5 ton page as we expect to install this in our M-52A1.
Just got a NOS heater from a seller in MA that as you can see from the photos, is just the bare heater, no other parts. I am guessing that the unit installs in the same location as the hot water heaters, on the...
Anyone know where to get replacement floats for the 4a032 engine carbs? Had an issue with the original carb, so installed a new carb from Saturn, and still the float swells and sticks in the body of the carb. Any suggestions? Sanded the float down and sealed with a gas proof (who knows?)...
Anyone know what the pre-heater fuel pump pressure spec is? Still trying to get the Mack tractor heater to run, and will try to setup a gage to check, but want to use the correct range gage. Still think that the problem is in the nozzle.
Anyone know where I can get or see a diagram of the 4a032's oil system? I know that the rods are splash lubed like the 2a016 & 1a08 but where and how is the rest of the oil system layed out? Didn't see this in the TM.
Also why is the site so slow sometimes? Takes minutes to load and reload.
Did a makeshift load test on the 3 kw unit Sunday PM so I could set the gov. under a load per the manual. Used a 500 watt area lamp, 1500 watt box heater, and two Sears 6 hp (right!) vacuums. Ran the load meter up into the 105% gray zone (3150 watts or so), but the unit loved it. Exhaust just...
I know it has been awhile, but I just got a disk with pictures from the guys I bought the water truck and spare from that were taken when we loaded the truck at their farm.
Can someone give me the dimension from the face of the flywheel surface to the face of the bellhousing surface (depth of housing) for the 4a032? Thanks
Trying to matchup an SAE mounted pump so we can directly connect the engine and pump unit. Will be using on water truck to both fill the tank...
Just won a retro-fit kit to change-out the points on the 4a032 to electronic on E-BAY for cheap money ($17+ shipped). Box was unopened with all parts still in the bags, but no instructions. Figured that it can't be too hard so installed on Saturday. Now engine only runs on #1 & #2 cylinders...
