    R.I.P.--LIFER--Charles Briggs

I am very sad to inform you all that my father Charles D Briggs Jr. (aka Lifer) passed away today 7-13-2011 at 4:20 am. I wanted to let you all know since he has gotten pretty close to numerous people on here. He is now in a better place and his pain and suffering have finally ended. For those...

    Deuce Identification Question

The M35s I drove in ther service had the air tanks "buried" behind the spare tire on the driver's side. I'm tall enough that I could just squat down and reach under the spare to drain my tanks, but most of my troops had to lie down and crawl partway underneath to do it. The ones I've seen...

    USAF M715s

Does anyone know if the Air Force had any M715 series vehicles? I never saw one in my nearly 30 years in the AF, but I wasn't at every base, either. ;)

Whose Toy Did I See Today?

I was westbound on I20 about 12:00 noon enroute from my latest hospital appointment in Augusta. At mile marker 184, I saw a civvy tractor with a lowboy hauling a well-used M35 on the eastbound side. Looked like it might be being delivered to a new owner somewhere. Was it for anyone here?

    "Sky Sweeper"

Does anyone know anything about the 170mm (5 inch) "Sky Sweeper" radar guided anti-aircraft gun? Of particular interest is how to transport it. My Legion post has one sited at our old Post HQ and we would like to move it to our new HQ building. Thanks for any help you can offer. :)

    Forum Rules

I think that the "Requirements for New Members" thread should be locked and contain ONLY the requirements for new (and current) members of the forum. I, for one, check this thread now and then to see if there have been any additions or changes to the rules, but find it rather tedious because of...

    Lifer needs assistance

Greetings! I have a 1954 M37 and a 1955 Pontiac, neither of which runs, that I need to have hauled from Abingdon, IL to Lavonia, GA. Mapquest puts the distance at a little under 850 miles. You may contact me via PM or via e-mail at cbriggs@mchsi dot com to discuss logistics.

    Period Photo

I know that the Army and the Marine Corps both used the mule, but I didn't think they "shared" them in the literal sense. Take a look at the markings on the one that this Jar Head is driving.

    M135 - M211 production figures

Can anyone tell me when they started making the M135/M211 series trucks and when production ended? "Enquiring minds want to know." Thanks!

    Deuce Nomenclature

I have a couple of dumb questions. When it comes to MV nomenclature, I inderstand what the "A1" and "A2" designations mean, but what does the "C" suffix denote? For the second question, some of the M35s assigned to my TAC unit were "screamers" or "whistlers." Fortunately, the one assigned to...
