I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Just so you know, I won't start on the restoration at least until the weather gets better over here. Plus, with economy what it is, money's tight so I may not be able to afford it for a while now. Don't expect it anytime soon. My dad doesn't turn 60 for a year and a half. Had to plan early.

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

You guys can calm down with the "it's your truck, you do what you want with it" stuff. I understand what you're saying and I agree. My problem is I don't know much about my truck so I'm looking to more experienced people to give me advice on what I can or can't do with it and that is exactly...

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

It leaks anti freeze. It barely runs. I haven't really messed around with it too much to find out more. What I've said is what I know. What I do know is that I can take it down to Denver and have it rebuilt for less than $1000. That would be the cheap option.

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Yeah, well you've only seen the front end. The interior is crap, the paint is crap, there's no cover, the engine's in terrible shape... I could go on for a while. It needs monumental amounts of work.

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Yeah I figured out it was an M135. Just had to figure out the difference between that and the M35.

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

You guys get ONE pic. With the weather what it is(as you can see, there's snow on it), and me being lazy today, I wan't going to pull it out to get some better pics. Hopefully this will satisfy you guys for now.

Difference between original M35 and M135?

Well, I've got a 1951 military truck. I'm trying figure out if it's an M35 or M135. I have books saying it's an M135, but they were printed much later than 1951 so they're not exactly reliable. I'm just looking for some key differences that I can look at to determine, for sure, which it is...

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Thinking about this more, it is old, you don't see a lot of them on the road, I'll keep it original. There's still the problem of the canvas though. Where can I get one of those...?

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Considering it is even moderately rare, I want to keep it original. My brother has a 1939 Studebaker Champion with SUICIDE DOORS. Those are very hard to find and his is 99% original. Now that I know this truck isn't very common, I'll just have the engine rebuilt, restore the interior, get it...

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Hold up, hold up. Did you just say rare? I thought these things were pretty common... In that case, I should just rebuild the original engine right? It's in terrible shape but can be rebuilt.

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

    Also, I lied... It's a 1951 GMC M135 deuce and a half so... yeah

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Well I just found out the truck has air assisted brakes, so that should solve the problem of stopping at high speeds....

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

Well now I can upgrade the braking system can't I? I'm not looking to restore this as close to original as possible, I just want to keep the look it has. I will do anything I can with the internals. (sorry if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. My brother handles most of the engine...

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

My brother and I are looking to restore it for my dad's 60th birthday. My brother says he wants to put a diesel in it. Ours is an A1 (I believe. Maybe the original) and has the 'dinosaur' engine of the M35(not a lot of power, gas). We live in Colorado and go up into the mountains a lot so having...
