Finally getting around to replacing my DC regulator (and checking for more mouse nests), but I can't work out how to get the front blower (fan) shroud to come off.
Note that I have an ASK on the unit, but I don't believe that's the issue:
- I've removed the front (fan) end of the ASK
- I've...
Hi,
It's a long time since I've been on the forum, but am posting as having a minor emergency (power outage, and generator won't run). Apologies if the answer is already in the forums, but not had time to search. Hoping to get some ideas so I can get this running before dark....
My MEP003a is...
I've realized that I'm going to need some short braided flex hose to attach to MEP003a the exhaust mufflers (this is so I can get the exhaust pipes to a location where I can attach the regular laundry pipes I'll be using). I've discovered these can't be attached directly if the MEP has an ASK...
Having got my 003a installed, I've spent the last couple of evenings browsing here trying to work out what fuel additives I should be using if running on regular pump diesel. Though there's a number of threads on additives, but I couldn't find anything conclusive

Hi,
Just put the ASK (and a bunch of additional soundproofing) on my MEP003a, and permanently mounted/installed my PLC...and guess what, for the first time it won't start!
I've identified the problem - it's definitely the fuel stop solenoid not operating (if I lift it manually when cranking...
Does anyone know where I can pick up a set of the stainless flex muffler pipes for the MEP003a? (I'm wondering if anyone might have a set they're looking to get rid of)
Alternatively, has anyone advice on parts I can use to connect to the threaded muffler on the unit?
I'm planning on...
Anyone found an inexpensive frequency/current transducers? This is to hook into my Autostart PLC so I can monitor the MEP remotely while it's running.
There's various frequency transducers on ebay, but they're large, and not inexpensive (also outputs don't really match the 4-20ma or 0-10v I'm...
Thanks to all the advice posted here (especially sewerzuk), got my MEP-003a autostarting yesterday (worked first time!!)
I'm using a Unitronics Vision230 PLC, and interposing relays (the relays aren't really needed, as the PLC has onboard relays, but I used them for additional protection, and...
Hi!
I've been lurking for several months, and have finally decided to go with an MEP-003a as an emergency backup whole house generator. Though I've spent plenty of time building/rebuilding old cars and trucks and other machinery this is the first time I've tried a generator (or anything...
