Agree, just steel wool or a fine wire brush on a bench grinder for the shaft and rifle brushes for the female stuff. These clean up really nice. Modern synthetic grease wont gump up like the old stuff.
Since you have the pump apart, I put my head on a belt sander to clean it up. I know it's not a true surfacing job but I figured it would at least clean up any corrosion and make it seal up a bit better. I also cleaned up the valves and such. Works much better now. Still not great but after...
Way way way back when we bought our FLU we got a really good deal on it. It had 17 miles on the odometer (real, not a reset) and still had knobs on the tires. Despite this it was being sold as a non-runner and it was.
Well it turned out that when the Service Builtin came out requiring fuel...
I have upwards of 15 different brake reservoir caps all with standard 3/8 air line fittings attached to them for all sorts of cars and trucks. I use basically a pressurized weed killer setup with it's own hand pump and gauge. The reservoir in it can take any brake fluid you want so I just...
The more I look at this the more it seems there would be two requirements. One, you will need another reservoir for the purge function. This can be a smaller tank mounted on the passenger side. Two, you will need a purge governor added into the system to switch the pump to vent to atmosphere...
I do like the idea of going with an air direr with purge but dealing with all the metric to AN to SAE fittings, hard lines, CARC paint all seems like an alternative to waterboarding. That being said I think from my limited understanding of the drier set-up, the trailer tank could be used as the...
That was my assumption that it is time for a rebuild. The kits are available so here I go! Next is whether or not to keep the alcohol system or go to an air drier setup with a purge valve. It looks like it is about the same money as buying a new Mog set-up. Of course I am sure it will take...
So forgive my overall inexperience with air brake systems but when your trucks are running does your unloader valve constantly bleed off at the bottom whenever the truck is running, whether or not it is at the set pressure? I am trying to get to the bottom of the slow pressure build up in my...
In stock form you have forward hydraulic control in the cab only. That being said you can route hydraulic controls anywhere you want with enough time and money.
The transmission is a 4spd with two fwd speed ranges and one rear speed range so 8 fwd speeds and 4 rwd speeds. So like a tractor...
The auger and bit I rent when I need them, they are $3500 to buy! But to fit them you need a FLU only bracket and custom hoses. That is what I have available. Not trying to get what I have in them back but something fair.
Guys I thought I would offer up my rear auger set-up for FLU419s. If you guys recall I got it all working but my soil was just too rocky being an old river bed. So what I have is the OEM bracket sold to the Army and two new hoses to attach to the auger and the bucket feed lines in the middle...
Start spraying Anti seize or WD40 etc into that master disconnect. Mine was rusted closed so yours might be rusted open. I have a new switch but since it freed up I have avoided tilting the cab a little longer with mine.
