What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

tell me about the Rusfre solution. Spray or roll on? Difficult to apply? Glad to hear that the CUCV stood up to a PA sized deer. With knowing that, I feel better about driving around here in TX with our German Shepherd sized deer we have in Central TX. ;)

It was either I pick it up or it get thrown in the scrapper when they trash the truck. Figured I'd keep it or get it to someone who could use it, since mine has been converted. :)

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Bought parts for my 09 today at a salvage yard. Found a M1009 at a salvage yard and was able to get my rifle mounts for inside the cab, a power strip for inside the cab, several other odds and ends, and a rear bench seat in great condition for cheap. Oh...and a resistor from the firewall. :)

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Started working on pulling out the blue carpet that the Sheriff's Dept had installed. Took out the bench seat and the passenger seat to do it. No major rust, which is exciting. Now I have to figure out how to remove all the old adhesive that kept the carpet down. Once it's cleaned well, I think...

Got my AC running in my CUCV. Nice, cold air, now that Winter is almost here. Next step is to seal the cab of the truck and insulate it.

That is what I figured. All of this global warming is causing more ice than usual here in my region. ;) I need to get a set, just in case it is needed. Do I only need one set? For the rear?

Rewiring cig lighter I began work yesterday on rewiring the cig lighter in my m1009. I added the 12 ga wire to the GP relay, but need to find a good location to put the black wire. Last week I added a new petcock to my Racor spin on fuel filter, on top, to bleed air out of my fuel line...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Being that we are in the middle of one of our infamous 10 year major ice storms here in the north TX area, that got be thinking about getting chains for my CUCV. I have questions, though. Do we need one set or two for the trucks? Are these 2524's as big of a pain to put on as they appear to be?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I replaced the GP relay this afternoon. I purchased a new AC Delco d1777 from Amazon for $21 plus free shipping versus purchasing one locally for over $40. My 12v (Roscommon) CUCV has not started for the past few days after I ran her for a couple of hours. The GP relay had been clicking, so I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

No...mine would cold start fine and then after running it for 30 mins, shutting it off, coming back 20 mins later, it won't start. I would run down the battery trying to start it, get a jump start, and it would start again. This has happened a couple of times lately. I was thinking it might be...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I parked my '84 m1009 in a new position on my driveway last night, with the nose pointing down the driveway (down hill). Today i see a big, new puddle under the front of the engine on the driveway. (New driveway...my wife really loves my "project truck"!) I checked the leak and it appears as...

Upgraded the headlight harness tonight. I used a heavy duty, high temp headlamp socket and Sylvania SiverStar H6054 lights. It's amazing how much of a difference they make. I can see now. :)

My newly installed belts were squealing, so i put a stop to that, the old fashioned way. I re-tightened the belts. ;) I put a second layer of fiberglass on my roof this afternoon. The Sheriff's Dept had lights installed that were bolted into the ceiling. When they took the lights off, they left...
