What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Did glass run and window seals on M1008 passenger door. Took longer to remove glass run as it was rock hard! It is good to have a skinny arm to get inside the door. Again, lots of silicone spray on glass run really helps. Hope I don't have to do this again.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced glass run and window seals on passenger side M1009. Second time but still took longer than I thought it would. Spraying lots of silicone on glass run does help with installation. Also found large mud dobber nest in door!

Agree. The window track was easier to install with interior door panel off but the plastic is old and fragile, especially the clips at the top.

Andy: The ArmorAll I used on the bezel is the old, original: "cleans shines and protects" It does make the black bezel look almost new. I polished the lens with rain-x Headlight Restorer because I had some on hand. It has been a disappointment on military tail lights. Next time I will try...

I am not an expert and learned from SS site. The card is easy to install. The housing was zip tied to the left side of steering column. The end cap needs to be carefully pried off. Batteries should be disconnected before doing anything electrical anywhere on these trucks! I pulled the old...

After starting the glow plugs will cycle or heat up again a few times. If you watch the voltmeter you will see the needle swing to the left and you may hear the relay. On my other vehicles it will do it 2or 3 times but not for a minute or longer. I believe the TM says up to 25 seconds on the...

Installed glow plug card From "Antenna Climber" which cured the constant cycling after starting for over a minute and wait light not always coming on when cold. Will probably order another card for M1009.

Removed nasty floormats and jute backing that felt damp. Some rusty areas but no perforation! Will wire brush, apply Eastwoods rust converter, prime and paint. Will install minimal floor mats like in M1009 and hopefully avoid more rust. Found log book under seat but no useful information...

The new relay is mounted 90 degrees from the old one. That is it sticks up90 degrees from the plate. The old ones mount parallel to the plate. I know, no photos... Doghead relay still 12.00 at Oreillys. What a deal. Look in lawnmower section don't ask for help!

Did Doghead mod to M1008. Second time for me, Momentarily confused by new relay installed and old one still attached to mounting plate. Looked like the old one except had 55683-90-15591718 on label on the bottom of the unit. Is this an improved unit or just a replacement? DID doghead just...

Don't feel badly about the plug being 180 degrees out. I did the same installing trailer plug on M998 airlift bumper. Got some interesting trailer light combos! It's good to share our mistakes and be able to laugh(once the problem is solved)

Thank you all for responses to my antenna location question. They explain why the rear holes have been plugged and the front ones have bolts in them. I will probably use the front location for ease of mounting. Doubt if I will go in the trees but front location makes sense. Great web site! Bob
