From what I read about it, one main goal was to be able to easily drag it into aircraft for transport. It wasn't really designed to be suitable for rough country, and it's prime mover bears that out, being a small 4x2 tractor.
That said, it could be pulled across gentle terrain near a road...
It resembles an M348 in many ways, but appears too deep in the belly, and I can't quite make out where the rear wheel is. Any better pictures?
