What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Got my AM-7152 power supply mounted for the GRC-213, just need to score an AM-6874 amplifier to finish the build.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I just finished replacing all four shocks, small potatoes I know but huge difference in ride. I honestly had no idea they were that bad. When I got the old ones off, all of them collapsed with little effort and only slightly more resistance to extend them. The only issue was the usual drivers...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Had my driveshaft redone. One of my shaft bearing caps just fell out while i was removing the shaft. It had .020 radial play so it was shot. Took it to a drive line place near the airport and they cut off the bad yoke, welded on a new one, pressed in new bearings, balanced and painted it for...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced my blower switch today. When I took it out it just fell apart. Note that it doesn't come with the chrome knob so I found one on eBay for $12, ouch! Also installed some NOS seat covers I found on the same site. Now the interior smells like an old GP Medium, lol.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

CUCVRUS would be proud! After I had my IP redone and put in a new glow plug card, which fixed my hard starting issues, I removed the manual glow plug push button and fast idle toggle switch added by the previous owner. I then removed the electric fuel pump and installed a new mechanical pump. I...

No headlight or horn mods. The electrical is stock with the exception of a manual glow plug push button and advance idle toggle switch. All of which were done by the previous owner 2 years ago.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I checked my 30 amp headlight fuse today after cleaning the fuse block contacts several days ago. It shows signs of heat damage again. I went through the headlight circuit sticky, thanks all who contributed BTW, and started looking for areas up stream of the fuse block. I took apart the diamond...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I was driving home last night and my headlights started flashing on and off. Today I found the headlight fuse half melted. I cleaned the fuse block contacts with crocus cloth and contact cleaner and replaced the damaged 25 amp fuse with the correct 30 amp. Works like a champ now!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I believe any airborne liquid based nerve agents would be detected. Its funny though, its detector is mounted to the floor to detect any nerve agents entering the cab via the air vents. By then it's too late for the crew unless they were already in MOP-4. Both units are detachable so you could...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yup, it's supposed to be part of the intercom so I could monitor both receivers in back. Its a c-10456 used in M-1 tanks but it should be a c-2299 for use with an RT-246. I have an RT-524 in back so technically that wouldn't be accurate either. I may just remove it but the coolness factor may be...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Added an M-42 chemical agent alarm to the interior. I also added the mount to the passenger floor board, but I'm having a hard time finding the M-43 detector unit and associated mount.

I have the plate mounted to right of the hitch on the bumper. I spliced into the trailer harness to light it. The only draw back is I have to remove the plate when towing because it covers the trailer plug, which is only once in the last year. Note my L/H tail lense is removed for painting also.

Painted the Beast last week. It turned out well I think. I followed the FM drawings and used Gillespie rattle cans and Rustoleum professional flat black. I taped and masked then airbrushed the demarcation lines to soften them up a bit.

Fixed my horn using Mead's fantastic tutorial. The contactor pin was installed backwards. Installed jack and handle, acquired from Cucvrus, in their respective stowage points. Thank you Sir. And finally, rotated my VRV to the midway point. That gave me slightly longer and harder shift points.
