dunno what everyone else was talking about eariier, but i finally motivated to crawl under & do a 28mt swap this week. Took most of an afternoon of puttering at my speed, but is done.
Got in a HW glowplug card tonight, so slapped it in. No more humming/buzzing underdash, but i do kinda wish i had set it to solid wait light vs flashing. Not sure i care enough to weasel under the dash again for it though. Also got in an Ebay suburban jack setup, so i have a passably stock...
Installed a GM GF647 fuel filter system along with new Gates barricade hoses to & from the housing. Took a bit to get it mounted since the bolt holes on the housing were a little ways off from the stock bracket mounting holes.
Found the PO had run 5/16 hose all the way to injector pump &...
Man that took a bit of doing. Turns out the local Sutherlands & parts stores don't stock 9/16 & the local fastenal was all out of the length i needed. finally got grade 8 bolts, nuts, flat & lock washers @ the local farm center. Rear shocks are finally completed. Went to look at the front to...
30R9 fuel line seems to come up as various brands 3/8 fuel line for fuel injection vehicles on Amazon.
I picked up a set of rear shocks & started swapping them over only to find a PO possibly mixed standard & metric on the lower bolts/nuts? The bolts have a bad spot & even on a section of good...
Took me a bit to get motivated but i finally replaced the wiper arms & blades to convert to newer Ford Bronco arms & 17" blades. The lisle puller worked excellent @ getting the old stuck arms off. Gave it careful wire brushing & a bit of anti-seize & the new arms slid on easily. While doing...
Got my other group31 battery in the Blazer & hooked up new military style battery terminals & a couple new heavy duty cables. Only things i'm not super fond of on these is the 3/8 bolt & nut that secures the cables to the terminals is just so freaking long. Realize it's so a person can mount...
Weather was good did a little tinkering. Pulled the 2 antenna off the hood a PO installed & then found my plastic body plugs weren't the right size & that the local parts stores don't stock them at all. Guess i'll have to deal with a couple round holes in the hood for time being until i can...
Nothing too drastic due to weather. Over the weekend i finally installed my black Delco turn signal stalk to replace the original highly worn chrome one & today i picked up a couple of proper Exide Group31 batteries from the local large truck GMC dealership since they had a heck of a deal on them.
Part # for the GR starter bracket is 23502557, is different part # than the standard drive starter bracket which if memory serves was discontinued & no longer widely available.
now that we're back.
Installed updated gp temp sensor & pigtail yesterday & managed to get it titled & tagged this afternoon so i'm officially street legal.
While looking for my current toy, i had a chance at a M1009 with a 6.5 turbo & A/C in it. I asked a few questions over the phone then politely told the guy it wasn't the way i wanted to go since i wanted something closer to stock. Sound like i very likely dodged a HUGE bullet on that one!
Getting new M1009 ready for MO vehicle inspection, so transferring bits off the old one along with a few new things too.
LMC headlight harness & headlights
new non-Dorman turn signal socket & most bulbs
air filter
Datcon 24v voltmeter
cleaned & lubed various grounds & fuses in the fuseblock...
After more than a couple years of inactivity i finally got the funds gathered and a replacement M1009 purchased today. Got it home just before sunset, so any pics will have to wait until tomorrow when i start going over what it needs & what new parts i can pull off my old blazer.
