Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

. Yes Sir!! Thanks @Tracer . It takes a "100 Acre Field" to turn it, but at a little more than 2.5 times the speed of sound it runs off and leaves everything we have today in the dust. Also found another neat pic - Operation Desert Shield

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

. F-4 Phantom was indeed a gorgeous plane. An older guy that I know flew those in Vietnam. His comment was that it had a glide slope like a rock without power. His mental decision was that if the plain failed to respond to input, it was time to punch out...

. That's interesting Tracer... The DC-8 has a pretty good crab angle coming over the threshold. I noticed in the following image the trees aren't leaning, so maybe the air is different a little lower. :) Had to snag a few screen scrapes... Stavenger is over in Norway and a quick look...

. Hmmm... Wonder what it was like to get a EUC approved for an airplane? . Oh wait. The government was willing to sell almost anything to the citizenry back in those days.

. This is really neat. Especially slipping down below the tree line. I'm coming for you... DC-3 with Invasion Stripes. Pretty dang cool!

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

. Had to snag a couple of pictures out of that video. Pretty neat... If you didn't know exactly what it was - that turn to inbound - and angling down low could sure make your heart race!

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

. Well, not being an aircraft engineer I can't guarantee that to be the truth. Just that several "P3 Drivers and Operators" told me that more than once. Couldn't swear to it, but it seems very reasonable.

. The MAD (magnetic anomaly detection) boom out the back needs the least possible interference and the intakes on top is much like the B2 with intakes on top. Makes the plane quieter...

. Had to snag a few screen grabs - just in case people couldn't see these NEAT pix!

. Wow!! That first pass looks like a fighter when he pulled up and banked hard right! . . The pylons make this last one look even lower than it really is... .

. Pretty amazing... The most exciting thing is to see the wings start to fly as it begins to lift off. Much like the B-52 where the pogo's under the wing tops fly the wing to the point of dropping them at take-off with a full load of fuel.

. I can claim witness to flying on one engine in a C-130. Either a B Model or a C-Model that belonged to the North Carolina Air National Guard was hauling an activity bus full of JROTC students. Flight plan was Charlotte to Myrtle Beach AFB, with an approach from out over the ocean. Plan was...

. Yes Sir! Somehow, I don't think it would be fun at all - if those bay doors were open~~!

. My absolute best airplane quote was by Chuck Yeager: "If you can walk away from a landing, It is a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing " .

It is hard to imagine that the first flight for that airplane was about THIRTY years ago. Been retired for more than ten years... It is so neat though! It makes you wonder what we have happening now that we haven't seen yet. <evil grin> .
