    803A Hard to start

You guys are correct, they are brazed, or at least all the ones I've looked at that closely were brazed....

    803A Hard to start

So out of curiosity, was the hard line plugged near the Banjo fitting and no fuel is passing to the metering pumps? Or are you saying the tube is clogged near the far end and the fuel can not reach the bypass that goes up to the injector returns? If you are only talking about the bypass to the...

    803A Hard to start

So the moral of the story here is apparently that we should check fuel flow right at the metering pump inlets.... checking at the Banjo bolt is apparently not enough!

    803A Hard to start

Just to elaborate, in Zarathustra's case what is happening is the relief valve is stuck closed, causing oil pressure to go too high. This pumps up the lifters to the max and floats the valves causing a loss of compression and then the motor dies. If you are unable to even get the motor started...

    803A Hard to start

Maybe you also need to look at the suction side of things and see if you have a loose fitting, cracked line or other point where the pump could be sucking in air instead of fuel?? The smallest air intrusion will cause all kinds of problems!

    803A Hard to start

I know you say you have had it running fine before, but have you load tested it? If so what were the results? The motor has a slight sound of either low compression in 1 or more cylinders or possibly 1 or more dead injectors or otherwise dead cylinders. I would imagine both of these conditions...

    803A Hard to start

In the video the batteries are not your problem, it's cranking fine. Although after so many failed starts you now may need to charge them again. I think you idea of sluggish is not what Guy was thinking, he thought it was cranking slow, which its really not. In the video each time it dies is it...

    803A Hard to start

If your fuel solenoid is pulling in correctly when you attempt to crank, and the linkage is moving freely to the right , next thing I would do is crack the lines on top of the 4 metering pumps, crank from S1 ( not the dead crank switch ) and see if you are getting little spurts of fuel out of...

    803A Hard to start

Hold on... the pumps in an 802 / 803 make the same sound all the time. They do not slow down once the system is correctly primed. They are different than the magnetic plunger pumps in the 002/003 which slow down to a slow click once the system if full and primed. Unfortunately the pumps in an...

    803A Hard to start

You should crack open the Banjo bolt coming out of the fuel filter housing. Upon turning S1 you should have immediate flow at the loosened banjo bolt. If not, you will need to start checking your fuel delivery system. If your system is draining back, simply turning on the pump and letting it...
