What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I've painted the Dana 60. Again. This time I used spray can 2K epoxy primer. Great stuff. To finish it I loaded up my pneumatic spray gun with 2K black paint. Turned out great. I'm finally happy with it.

Picked up my laser cut parts today. Exhaust manifold spacers for my friend (his injectors touch the turbo exhaust manifold) and turbo (HX35) flanges for myself. They fit perfectly.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Found a local guy who is specialized in rebuilding Saginaw steering boxes. Got mine rebuilt a long with the K1500 box.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yesterday I picked up my new rear leaf springs at the nearby FedEx center. Also got a call from the painter, my parts where done. A little while ago I ordered 4 fuel filter bases, 2 Carter P4070 lift pumps and a bunch of Baldwin fuel filters. It kind off annoyed me at first that they sent...

I received the turbos today! :D No dowel pin. After taking out the snap ring I can rotate it anyway I like. Not sure what the PSI the wastegate actuator is set for, but it won't be very difficult to create my own using a spring. Or get one from Heath Diesel. For any Europeans on here, these...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Been Googling about turbos a lot. Lots of possibilities. Set my mind on the HX35W. After Googling the HX35W I came across Iveco/Cummins part number 3597180. I can get this locally. Great, I went to order 1. I ordered 2. One for the Optimizer going in the M1028 and 1 for my K1500. I hope I made...

I really had my mind set on HMMWV rims. I guess if I go back to the 14B I'll look into getting re-centered ones.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I've been slowly piecing together parts to swap the 14 Bolt rear axle with a Dana 70HD (dually) to run HMMWV rims without spacers. I might have to scrap that idea. I had already exchanged the hubs for the 14 Bolt hubs so they don't stick out from the rims and installed disc brake conversion...

Check your hitch mounting. I've read about those being weak and seen pics of them broken. With proper mounting I've towed 17000+ lbs with my M1028 6.2 and regularly with my K1500 6.5 TD. One time I even towed close to 40k with the M1028, but that was on a closed off market square. Those do have...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Dropped of my shielding gas bottle to be re-filled and went on to FedEx. For some reason they didn't like my joke "I expected more and bigger boxes so I brought an extra bed"... Go figure... As we started this order back in November, at the time we hoped the parts would be in before...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I've been coming across an ad for 8-bolt H1 rims for € 250 for a couple of weeks now. I never bid because I want(ed) 12-bolts, but I figured if he'd accept € 200 I'll get them. The D70HD hub sticks out way too far for my liking. I've read that 14-bolt hubs are a common swap, going to try that...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today I drove to one side of Belgium to pick up a bed for my K1500 then over to the other side of Belgium to pick up the Dana 70-3HD (dually) axle for my M1028. The plan to run HMMWV rims without spacers or re-centering. Yes, those are CUCV shackles on my Iveco Daily

If insurance would be involved, yes it would be at least be an economic total loss. I was playing in the snow on a secluded spot and must've hit a pothole. It threw me off course towards a streetlight. In a split second I had to choose to hit it with the front or the side. Guess in that split...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Came across a Dana 70 dually axle. Picking it up tomorrow or next sunday. I want the D70HD so I don't have to use spacers for HMMWV rims I want. Front axle will then need dually hubs as well, will probably buy those from Hillbilly Wizard. As I already had my mind set on rear disc brakes, I want...

What did you use? Right now I'm leaning towards Lugnut4x4's kit.

I'll wait and see what Swfb has to offer. If yours are better I could have FedEx pick those up instead of new ones from SD Truck Springs. My mates M1008 is missing the brackets that are just behind the engine mounts, maybe you have those as well? Pretty sure we'll find more things missing that...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Ordered paint and took the rear leaf spring packs apart too clean and paint them... 1 broken leaf on the left side and 3 on the right side. I guess it's time for new ones. Went on Rock Auto to get an idea of how much it would set me back. €1200 euros including shipping and import fees. Contacted...

If I do change the crossmember, I'd go for this one I think... Fits right in there with the other ORD gear, much better then their own crossover.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Got the frame back. Blasted, metal sprayed, epoxy primed and painted black. Bolting everything together using a lot of ceramic grease on the bolts and nylon insert lock nuts. Finally something is getting put back together instead of being torn apart. Decided to use ORD front main, front...

Swfb and I decided to make our own high flow intake plenums for our turbo setups. I finished a prototype last night and installed it on the K1500 for testing. Throttle response seems to be a bit snappier and the turbo whistle is a bit more pronounced. Next one goes on my friends turbo'd M1008.
