What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yes! Slip yoke eliminator kits (SYE) will do that but also require a new driveshaft, and tapping into the seriously hardened bit of the output shaft.

Would removing the axle not have been faster then?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

No need to take it as an insult, just kidding around. But there are two inspections I get in MO. Safety and emissions. At this point emissions is usually a check engine like and equipment existence check, used to have to hook up to a smog meter but diesels were exempt from that anyway. So...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I knew a smart aleck would comment on that line lol. They have passed it every time they call and confer with MOHP Troop C though. I think what passes it is that it was not built with the cold air tubing, same as the license plate lights, so in MO it passes without them. I will eventually add...

How did you rotate the battery? New tray? From summit? I heard the civilian tray can be used to do that, it's been on my todo for a while. Be nice to have emissions inspections stop harassing me for not having the tubing on an emissions exempt vehicle.

Wonder if that would help with the smittybilt ones, I think UV is what wore them out. It's not even my DD. Thanks for the recommendation.

It looks good and works well. I need to order their seat covers now, the smittybilt molle ones are falling apart after a few years. Should shelled out in the first place.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I always thought "because then the TMs apply" was the only reason needed for wanting to keep it stock. People changing it are the ones who need to justify it to themselves.

I mean retrieving the broken off tips, what's the "right" method there? I wasn't aware there was one aside from major disassembly.

^ OK yeah that's what I've been doing all over my current project truck. Soak in Deoxit, brush off anything stubborn, grease with Permatex dielectric, reassemble. Need to do some of that on my CUCV now that I got the new headlight harness in from eBay.

Are these 24v lights? If not you're only taxing one alt, need to keep that one operating correctly.

How hard is it to replace the glass? That is one upgrade I would love.

Yeah, I've had bad luck with some Duralast parts in the past and stick with other parts stores now, usually NAPA or Advance (now carries CarQuest brand parts though instead of the diverse line of name brands they used to). That or I buy Delphi/Delco parts online, or at the dealer. Motocraft...

Those are the 'diesel ricers' as my IDI group was referring to them. Been a bad rash of rolling coal videos uploaded, and the group generally lets each of those guys have a piece of their mind about how bad they make the diesel community look by running like that in public. In hunting class...

The SM465's fourth gear and the THM400's third gear are both 1.00:1, so unless you plan on rock crawling with its low first gear, why is this considered an upgrade?
