Invest in the welder, plenty of youtube on how to use it well. Body work is expensive and no guarantee it was done right. Plus a welder can be used for so much more.
I'd start with removing the paint around the crack to see how much is crack and how much is rust. My guess is rust then I would grind that crack until you have clean metal, shape another piece of metal same thickness as the hole you created and tack weld it shut being careful not to overheat it...
I had a similar problem with shutting off and being able to restart, ended up the clamp to the fuel line connecting to the IP broke and it was getting a little air. I put 2 clamps on it cause I had to pull the intake to see it and no problems since.
Did you get anything from LMC? I searched their website but no parts listing for those mud shields. I have half of one (pictured) and the other is missing.

Yes it is two bolts brazed to it, my memory is going. I remember it had something goofy bolted to it. I wasn't sure of the purpose and it was in the way so I removed it.
Cut and modified my dashpad as it was covering my gauges up, I have to have the dashpad as it covers the huge crack in the dash.
I un-stitched the hem and sewed it back on with a sewing machine, I'm no tailor and it does not look like factory stitching but it's good enough most wont notice...
LOL, I really like that stereo, it has memory tilt so when powered it tilts up toward the driver making it easier to see. It'll make backing up a whole lot easier once I hook up the camera.
Thx, yeah I may still put another gauge in. Would be helpful to give an idea of a filter change. I copied everything from previous posts though. Copied a little too close though as the one I copied used a different housing and I did not pay attention to the fuel flow directions. So when I...
